WAS KILLED BY TRAIN
J.A. TAYLOR, OF ELKHART, IND., FOUND NEAR VAIDEN,
Had Apparently Been Run Over by a North-Bound Train During the Night—Has the Appearance of a Man in Good Cirumstances.
VAIDEN, Miss., Aug. 7.—A man supposed to be J. A. Taylor, of Elkhart, Ind., was found dead beside the Illinois Central tracks one mile north of here this morning.
The left side of the man’s skull had been crushed, and he was otherwise bruised and mangled in a manner indicating that he had been struck by a passing train. It is the supposition that he was walking along the track when a north-bound train struck him.
The dead man’s pockets contained a card bearing the name of J. A. Taylor, Elkhart, Ind.; also notice showing that the premium was due on his life insurance. He is about six feet tall, of slender build, age apparently fifty years, weight 150 pounds. Although very well dressed, the man had no money in his pockets. His general appearance is that of a well-to-do business man. The Elkhart officials have been notified.

“James A. Taylor, a prominent merchant tailor who recently left Elkhart on account of domestic troubles, is said to have been killed on a railroad at Eaiden, Miss.” [Fort Wayne Sentinel, 8 August 1907, page 3.]
