We regret to chronicle the death of Mr. John E. Wood, which occurred yesterday evening at the residence of Mrs. S. E. Keene, at the corner of Grove and First North streets. During the war the deceased was a member of the Vicksburg Cadets, and was one of the bravest young soldiers in the Southern army. The different Fire Companies and survivors of teh Cadets and Old Guard are requested to attend his funeral, which will take place from Mrs. Keene’s residence at ten o’clock this morning.

FUNERAL NOTICE.
WOOD—The friends and acquaintance of Mrs. S. E. Keene are respectfully invited to attend the funeral of the late JOHN E. WOOD, to proceed from her residence, corner Grove and First North streets, this (Saturday) morning, March 26, 1881, at 10 o’clock.
The officers and members of the Phœnix Fire Company, No. 2, are hereby notified to assemble at their Hall in full uniform, except hats, this (Saturday) morning, at 9 o’clock, for the purpose of attending the funeral of our late brother fireman, JOHN E. WOOD.
The members of Constitution No. 1, Hood and Ladder No. 1, and Washington No. 3, are respectfully requested to participate with us.

The members of the Old Guard and the surviving members of Swett’s Battery, are also cordially invited to attend.
