Note: There is a deed dated 18 July 1730 that mentions a Francis Brown as deceased. See ECDB 19, pages 127–128.

On 14 March 1725, ffrancis Brown was mentioned as a bordering landowner in a deed from Bryant Edmondson to John Croxton. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 18, page 166.]

On 17 May 1731, Francis Brown of the parish of Southfarnham and County of Essex sold to Henry Boughan junior of the same. For 1,000 pounds of tobacco and cask, 50 acres more or less bordering Henry Brown, Thomas Wood, John Croxton and ffrancis Brown. Signed Francis Brown. Witnesses: Thomas Barker, John Boughan, Henry his H mark Brown. Recorded 18 May 1731. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 19, pages 200–201.]

On 13 September 1733, a Francis his F mark Brown witnessed the will of Henry Brown. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 5, pages 232–234.]

In Land Trails records for 21 May 1751 the will of Daniel Brown, of Essex County, South Farnham Parish, dated 18 January 1707, is recorded. The will gives his old plantation to his eldest son Abraham Brown. His next son, Henry Brown, received the old plantation. Henry was not yet 21 years old in 1707. The other son, Francis Brown, received remaining property. Francis was not yet 21 years old in 1707. Daniel Brown’s wife was Jane Brown, still living at the time of his death. Daughters included Sarah Boughan, Mary Brown, Jane Brown, and Elizabeth Brown. The will was proved 10 7ber 1708 [10 September]. There is also with this case a deed from Sarah Boughan, who was Sarah Brown, to Francis Boughan dated 13 October 1746, which refered to the will of Daniel Brown of 18 January 1707. The case came to trial because John Doe had sought an ejection notice for Francis Boughan, and Francis had failed to appear in court. A Henry Boughan is also mentioned. On 14 May 1753, Francis Brown of the County of Essex and Parish of Southfarnham gave to his son Hezekiah Brown of the same. 60 acres more or less bordering James Booker and a branch called Boughans Corner. Signed Francis his F mark Brown. Witnesses: Richard Brown, Mordecaj Brown, Linar (also Lanar) his + mark Brown. Recorded 15 May 1757. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 26, pages 215–217.]

On 13 April 1754, Francis Brown and Christiana his wife sold to George Wright. For £27 current money of Virginia, 110 acres purchased of Hodges. Dated 13 April 1754. Signed Francis his F mark Brown, Christiana her CB mark Brown. Witnesses: Thos Barker, Ann her A mark Barker, Eliza her + mark Burnett. Recorded 16 April 1754. On 11 July 1754, Francis Brown and Christiana his wife of Southfarnham Parish, Essex County, to William Fretwell of the same. Lease and release. For 5 shillings/£26.12, 68-1/2 acres bordering Hezekiah Brown, James Booker, and Francis Boughan. Signed Francis his F mark Brown, Christiana her CB mark Brown. Witnesses: Thomas Barker, Ambrose Junes Senr, Richard Brown. Recorded 16 July 1754. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 27, pages 16–20.]

On 4 December 1755, Francis Brown cast votes for Colonel William Daingerfield and Colonel Francis Smith for burgesses of Essex County. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 27, pages 248–252.]
