Oscar Davenport Sanford married Lucy Ann Davis on 3 January 1884 in Westmoreland County, Virginia. He was 25, single, a farmer. She was 19 and single. Both were born in Westmoreland County and were living there. The parents were Corbin and Eliza Sanford and Joseph W. L. and Ann Davis. On 13 July 1888, the Northern Neck News reported, “Mr. Oscar Sanford and wife, of Washington, D.C., is visiting relatives in the county. [Northern Neck News, 13 July 1888, page 3.]
On 22 July 1892, the Northern Neck News reported, “The infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Sanford, died last Friday morning at the home of its parents near Templeman’s X Roads. [Northern Neck News, 22 July 1892, page 3.]

On 5 October 1905, Lucy A. Sanford, wife of Oscar D. Sanford, of Washington City and District of Columbia and Milford G. Davis of Westmoreland County and State of Virginia sold to Wm. W. Palmer of Westmoreland County and State of Virginia their interest right and title in two tracts of land in Westmoreland County. Lucy sold her interest in the land as the daughter of Joseph Davis, deceased, and Milford sold his interest in the land as the son of Grayson Davis, deceased, who was the son of Joseph Davis, deceased. The first tract was 8-1/2 acres, the second tract, which was referred to as the Dower, 1/4 acre. The deed referred to a survey made on 13 December 1860 by Jas. W. English.
