From researcher Bill Davidson:
Jonathan Kennon Thompson Smith (now deceased; he wrote a nearly 100 page manuscript on the Alexander Smith family) and fellow researcher Carroll Chowning, Senior found the following headstone:
"Here lies the body of Mrs. Elizabeth Edmondson, who departed this life on Friday, the 19th of November, 1773, in the 37th year of her age. She was the wife of Mr. James Edmondson and daughter of Mr. John Webb and Jane his wife. At her request is interred at the left side of her mother in her Grandfather Jones burying place on Friday, the 5th of December following."
Jonathan K. T. Smith's manuscript on the Alexander Smith family of Middlesex Co., VA states:
"This headstone was found in a barn lot, pulled away from the nearby obliterated Jones burial yard, right at Butylo (in June 1964). Jane Jones had married John Webb, and she left a daughter named Elizabeth who married the Hon. James Edmondson."
The Jane Smith who has been confused with the above Jane Jones was a daughter of Lt. John Smith (son of Alexander Smith) and his wife the widow Mrs. Jane (Cock) Jones (the widow of Rice Jones, Junior). That Jane Smith is believed to have died young (and without marrying). The last record of that Jane Smith was when she was mentioned in the 1708 Will of her aunt Elizabeth Blaise (in whose home Jane Smith was living).
