James Greenhill was mentioned in the 1 March 1725 will of his father William Greenhill. He was to receive the upper part of the land. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 4, pages 159–160.]

On 22 June 1737, Benjamin Waggoner and James Greenhill swore in court that the will purported to be that of Jonathan Haile was indeed in the said Haile’s handwriting. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 6, page 83.]
