On 5 June 1705, Richard Kemp of the Parish of Christchurch in the County of Middlesex Senior & Elianor his wife of the one part sold to Mary Naule & Katherine Turbett both of the County of Essex of the other part. For £30 sterling, 300 acres of Land “lying & being in the Parish & County Aforesaid” conveyed unto the said Richard Kemp & Elianor his wife by Robert Deputy & Elizabeth his wife (heiress of Hugh Meads decd), 200 acres of which were granted by patent to John Gregory & the said Hugh Meads on 4 October 1675, and 100 acres of which were granted & conveyed unto the said Hugh Meads by John Soaper of the said County of Rappahannock Taylor by his deed bearing date 6 Aprill 1667, and by Robert Deputy and Elizabeth his wife sold to Richard Kemp on 10 July 1703. The above granted land is to be equally Devided in Quality & Quantity into two parts & then the sd Mary Naule is to have her first choice, and the sd premisses when soe equally devided is to bee remaine to the proper use & behoffe of them the Said Mary Naule & Katherine Turbett. To all Christian People Wee send Greeting Bet [sic] it remembered & kept in Perpetuall Memory that Whereas Richard Kemp & Elianor his Wife being Possessed in ffee of a tract of land formerly granted by Pattant unto Hugh Mead the said Richard & his wife did by one deed of Gift Recorded &c in Essex County give unto Mary & Katharine Aldyn the said Elianors two Daughters all the said tract of land Containing 200 Hundred Acres More or less Now know ye that the said Mary now wife of Martin Nalle & her said Husband & the said Katharine now wife of James Sames all of the parish of Southffarnham in the County of Essex afforesd have & by these presents do by one Consent agree & Oblige themselves to Severe the Joyntennacy And by Equally deviding the Same the said Devision line runing S5E from a red Oak by a Swamp between Richard Gatewood & this tract to a red Oak in the last line To which Agrement we Oblidge our Selves heirs Exers & Admrs Each & Either of Them firmly by these presents As Wittness our hands & Seals this fifteenth day of October 1722.
