On 24 August 1791, John Chenault and Barbre his wife of the County of Essex sold to a Samuel Dogens of the same. For £90 current money of Virginia, a parcel in the parish of Southfarnham bounded by the lands of Frances Dennett Deceasd, John Dunn, John Dickinson and William Webb, 75 acres more or less, which John Chenault bought of William Banks and William Banks bought of Edmund Dunn. Signed John Chenault, Barbre Chenault. Witnesses: Richd Holt Jr, Spencer Purkins, John Turner, Agrippa Dogens. Ordered recorded 20 February 1792. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 33, page 352.]

Pursuant to an order of court dated 20 October 1795, an appraisal of the estate of Samuel Dogens deceased, Richard Holt, administrator, was made by Edward Ware, John Trible, and Wm. Newbill. Total £529.16.7-1/2. Ordered recorded on 17 July 1797. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 15, pages 323–326.]

In November 1806, a division of the estate of Samuel Doggins was made by John Trible, Jas. Jones, and L. Booker, with a widow’s dower set aside to Mrs. Doggins, and equal lots to Miss Nancy Doggins, Samuel Dogens, Miss Patty, Miss Jenny, Mrs. Dunn, and Wm. Dogens. Ordered recorded 17 June 1817. In an undated petition, orators and oratrices William Doggins, Patsey Brizendine who was Patsey Doggins now a widow, Thos Dennitt and Nancy his wife who was Nancy Doggins and Samuel Doggins an infant by James Croxton his next friend. That Ann Doggins widow of Samuel Doggins died on __ October 1815 intestate, complained that your orators and oratrices William, Patsey, Nancy, Samuel and Happy Dunn who intermarried with Jackson Dunn are the only children of Samuel.
