Coleman Jones was mentioned in the 27 February 1805 will of his brother Richard Jones. Coleman, along with his brother John, was to receive a Negro girl Ann. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 16, pages 385–387.]
On 16 September 1805, Coleman Jones and John Jones were bound in the penalty of $5,000 for Coleman Jones’s executorship of the estate of Richard Jones, deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 16, page 382.]
On 21 July 1806, an inventory and appraisal of the estate of Richard Jones, deceased, was submitted to court by L. Booker, John Miller, James Dix, and Coleman Jones, executor. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 16, pages 425–427.]
