In an undated petition, orator Thomas Brown of Essex County, merchant, complained that in 1762 Samuel Fawcitt purchased by mortgage various goods and died in the year [blank] leaving Rice Fawcitt an infant under the age of twenty one his son and heir at law. Rice has refused to pay his father’s debt. [Essex County, Virginia, Box Chancery item 4-E-62.]
On 24 November 1786, Rice Faucett answered the complaint of Thomas Brown, stating that he is the son of Samuel, but denying any knowledge of debt. [Essex County, Virginia, Box Chancery item 4-E-59.]
On 12 March 1791, Rice made a deposition, signing his name as Rice Fawcett. [Essex County, Virginia, Box Chancery item 4-B-6.]

On 21 September 1795, John Minter and Barker Minter were bound £200 for Josiah Minter’s administration of the goods, chattles and credits of Rice Fawcett. Signed John Minter, Barker Minter. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 15, pages 157–158.]
On 15 October 1795, an inventory and appraisal of the estate of Rice Fawcett was given by James Wright, William Sphepherd[?] and James Allen. No total. Signed by John Minter. Ordered recorded 17 October 1796. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 15, pages 263–264.]
The estate of Rice Fawcett in account with John Minter for 1796 was settled on 10 October 1796 by Thos Dix, Jno Haile and Jas Wright. Includes “To necessaries boughted for the decedents family in the year 1795 instead of killing the stock and using corn out of the field”. Ordered recorded on 17 October 1796.
