On 16 January 1832, Jones C Clopton and William Oliver were bound in the penalty of $10,000 for Jones C Clopton’s administration of the estate of Peter Broocke, deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 22, pages 372–373.]

In 1832, orators and oratrix William Oliver and Nancy his wife, and Allen, Carter, and Ross A. Cauthorn complained to the chancery court. That James Cauthorn, the father of your oratrix Nancy Oliver and of orators Allen, Carter, and Ross A. Cauthorn, died sometime about the [blank] day of [blank] in the year [blank] intestate leaving your oratrix and orators above named and James, Alfred and Frances Cauthorn, and leaving three small tracts of land lying separate and detached from each other, the first about 200 acres, the second about 10 acres, and the third about 100 acres, and also a moiety in a water grist mill, which although in good repair at the time of his death is now some what out of order and if not reparied in some short time will be entirely valueless unless rebuilt. On 16 December 1833, James Dunn and William Oliver were bound in the penalty of $2,000 for James Dunn’s administration with the last will and testament of Richard Cauthorn annexed. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 23, page 197.]

On 21 April 1834, Jones C Clopton, Richard Rowzee, John Rowzee and William Oliver were bound in the penalty of $10,000 for Jones C Clopton’s and Richard Rowzee’s execution of the will of Archibald Ritchie. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 23, page 250.]

On 20 October 1834, Jones C Clopton and William Oliver were bound in the penalty of $400 for Jones C Clopton’s administration of the estate of William Owen, deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 23, page 292.]

On 19 November 1836, William Oliver witnessed the will of Bartlet Brizendine, and proved the will in court on 16 January 1837. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 24, pages 96–97.]

On 19 June 1837, Larkin Hundley, Andrew Hundley, and Wm. Oliver were bound in the penalty of $10,000 for Larkin Hundley’s administration of the estate of Edwin Hundley. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 24, page 138.]

On 16 April 1838, Daniel Rennolds, Thomas B. Garnett, William Oliver, Muscoe Garnett Jr., Lewis Rennolds, Richard Motley, George T. F. Lanier, and Philip J. Rennolds were bound in the penalty of $65,000 for Daniel Rennolds’s and Thomas B. Garnett’s executorship of the estate of Barbee Spindle, deceased. On 16 April 1838, George T. F. Larmier, William Oliver, and Richard J. Muse were bound in the penalty of $10,000 for George T. F. Larmier’s administration of the estate of Thomas Collins. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 24, pages 275–276.]

On 16 June 1839, an inquisition on the death of an infant child of Jane Ursery was made at the home of Maria Davis, before James Wright a justice of the peace, and George W. Shelton, foreman, William Oliver, Reuben B. Boughton, Benjamin Broocke, Brooks Boughton, William G. Mann, Joseph Owen, Robert S. Cauthorn, Alfred Cauthorn, Thomas Hundley, Jno: W. Robinson, and Doctor William Smith, who say that Jane Ursery did use violent means upon the body of the said infant which must have been the cause of its death. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 24, page 382.]

On 19 December 1840, the appraisal of a negro Girl named Mary belonging to the estate of Mrs. Lucy Hundley, deceased, was made by John Sadler, Leroy Cauthorn, and William Oliver. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 24, page 565.]
