Baldwin M. Lee was mentioned in the 27 November 1801 will of his aunt, Mary Smith, proved 24 January 1803 in Westmoreland County, Virginia. [Westmoreland County, Virginia, Deeds and Wills 20, pages 418–419.]

Baldwin M. Lee was mentioned in the 1 August 1814 will of his brother, John P. Lee, proved on 15 August 1814. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 18, pages 58–59.]

On 22 November 1814, Baldwin M. Lee and Paul Micou were bound in the penalty of $5,000 for Baldwin M. Lee’s administration de bonis non with the will annexed of John Lee, deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will book 18, page 81.]

The will of Baldwin M. Lee of Leesville in the County of Westmoreland was dated 27 September 1804. That part of the Smithfd. tract of land in the County of Essex which I shall be intitled to, at the death of my mother susanna Lee, to my Brother John P. Lee. The rest of my property to my Sister in law Mary J. Lee. Mrs. Mary J. Lee, John P. Lee and George W. Lee to be executors. Signed Baldwin M Lee. Witness: Danl Carmichael. Codicil of 10 September 1820. My brother George W. Lee is not to be an executor. “It is verry much my desire, to do Something by Will for the four children recommended to my Care, by my Brother John P Lee, to Wit. Catherine Smith, Florinda, John & William Smith, but I find some difficulty in doing So, at this time,” they to be left in the care of my Sister in law, Mrs. Mary J Lee, who shall have entire control of the estate. Signed Baldwin M. Lee. Witnesses: John Redman, Benjamin T. Stewart, C[illegible] J. Collins, Danl Carmichael. Proved on 25 February 1822. On 15 April 1822, Geo. W. Lee and Leonard Sale were bound in the penalty of $1,000 for Geo. W. Lee’s administration with the will annexed of the estate of John Lee, unadministered by Baldwin M. Lee, deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 19, page 283.]

On 15 April 1825, commissioners David Pitts, Bevan D. Pitts and William Garnett issued a report on the estate of John P. Lee, deceased, in account with Baldwin M. Lee, executor, whose executrix was Mary J. Lee. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 20, pages 198–211.]
