On 23 January 1811, the land of Thomas Dunn was divided by Sthreshly Rennolds, Micajah Munday and Ben H. Munday. [Essex County, Virginia, Box Chancery No. 21, item 21-C-10.]

On 18 November 1811, Francis Munday and Micajah Munday were bound in the penalty of $12,000 for Francis Munday’s executorship of the estate of James Munday, deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 17, pages 325–326.]

On 11 January 1815, a division of the slaves of James Munday was made by Micajah Munday, William Garnett and James Hunter. Total value $6213. Lots go to Meriday Munday, Sally Munday, William Younger, Muscoe Munday, Edmund Munday, and Thomas Munday. Recorded 16 January 1815. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 18, page 99.]

The will of Micajah Munday of Essex County was dated 14 November 1831. To nephew Francis Munday the plantation I now live on, various personal estate, slaves Davy, Nelson, Dennis, Sarah, Salley, Betsey, Beckey, Catharine, Lucy, Horace, Jessy, Fanny Jr., George & old Fanny. To niece Sally Munday the plantation I purchased of Thomas Coleman and slaves Ben, Charles & Sam & Edy. To niece Easter Younger during her life slaves Tom, Joe, Phil & Nancy and at her death to her heirs. To nephew Thomas Munday slaves Jane, Billy, Eliza & Susan. To nephew Merida Munday slaves in his possession. To wife’s niece Suckey Boys four barrels of corn and slave Dick. To Suckey Boys during her life the plantation I purchased of Henry Dunn, and at her death to my nephew Frances Munday I give said land & twenty Barrels of Corn. I lend to wife’s niece Betsey Minter negro girl Judy and at her death I give her to my nephew Muscoe Munday. For Abraham’s attention to me I will give him to Walter Bowe upon Condition that he will never part him from his wife. To niece Molly Allen fifty dollars. For attending to my business I give to Richard Motley negro boy Sollomon. To Usler Stokes, Scynthia and her child Linsey during her lifetime and at her death to Rich: Motley, the said Motley to pay Molley Allen the fifty dollars in lieu of getting it out of my estate. The remainder of my estate to be equally divided between France, Thomas & Marda Munday. Richard Motley, Frances, Thomas & Meriday Munday to be executors. Signed Micajah his x mark Munday. Witnesses: Fielding Sale, Robt Samuel, John H Ball.
Presented in court 19 March 1832 by Francis Munday, Thomas Munday, Richard Motley and Benjamin H Munday and Sally his wife in order to be proved. Whereupon and on hearing as well the said Francis Munday, Thomas Munday, Richard Motley and Benjamin H Munday and Sally his wife by their Attorney as Ann Jones who is a niece of the said Micajah Munday decd. Molley Allen, Thomas Allen and Lucy Allen who was Lucy Munday and Lewis Munday children of Thomas Munday who was a brother of said Micajah Munday decd. Thomas Allen Sr. also in his own right son of Betty Allen which said Betty Allen before her marriage with Jeremiah Allen was Betty Munday a sister of said Micajah Munday. — It is ordered that the said Will be contested on the first day of May Court next …
And on the same day and year aforesaid and at the place aforesaid — This Writing purporting to be the last Will and Testament of Micajah Munday decd having been continued till the first day of May court next to be contested Thereupon for reasons appearing to the Court Benjamin H Munday is appointed Curator to Collect and preserve the goods and chattels of the said Micajah Munday decd until the further order of the Court in this behalf — Whereupon the said Benjamin H Munday entered into a bond in the penalty of Twelve Thousand dollars Conditioned as the law directs with Richard Motley and Ephraim Beazley his securities approved as such by the Court which said bond being acknowledged by the Obligors is Ordered to be recorded —
At a Court of Quarterly Session Continued and held for Essex County at the Courthouse in Tappahannock on the 22d day of May 1832. This Writing purporting to be last Will and Testament of Micajah Munday decd was this day produced in Corut by Francis Munday, Thomas Munday, Richard Motley and Benjamin H Munday and Sally his wife in order to be proved and Ann Jones daughter of Mary Whitlock who before marriage was Mary Munday a sister of the said Micajah Munday, Molley Allen who was Molley Munday a niece of said Micajah Munday, Thomas Allen, Lucy Allen who before her marriage was Lucy Munday, Lewis Munday and Thomas Allen Jr Nieces and Nephews of the said Micajah Munday decd appeared and opposed the proof the said Will Wherepon divers Witnesses were sworn and examined and the parties aforesaid by their Counsel fully heard. On Consideration whereof — it is the opinion of the Court that the said Micajah Munday at the time of making and executing the writing aforesaid dated the 14th day of November 1831 was of sound and disposing mind and memory and that he was under no undue influence — And Fielding Sale and John H Ball two of the Witnsses whose names are subscribed to the said Writing having Testified in Court that the said Micajah Munday signed & published the same in their presence as & for his last Will & Testament that they subscribed their names as witnesses thereto in the presence of the said Testator and at his request — that the said Testator was of sound sense and Memory as far as they knew or believe and thereupon it is Ordered that the said Writing be recorded as the last Will and Testament of the said Micajah Munday: and it is considered by the Court that the said Francis Munday, Thomas Munday Richard Motley and Benjamin H Munday and Sally his wife recover their Costs by them in this behalf expended — And thereupon Lewis Munday one of the parties Contesting the proof of the said Will prays an appeal which is granted him to the first day of the next Circuit Superior Court of Law and Chancery to be held for this County he having entered into bond with security approved by the Court and Conditioned as the law directs —

On 19 March 1832, Benjamin H Munday, Richard Motley and Ephraim Beazley were bound in the penalty of $12,000 for Benjamin H Munday’s appointment to collect and preserve the goods, chattels and credits of Micajah Munday deceased during the Contest about his will which has been Continued until the first day of May Court 1832. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 22, pages 416–417.]

On 3 April 1832, an inventory and appraisal of the estate of Micajah Munday was made by JW Fisher, Edmund F Noel, and Edward Wright. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 23, pages 21–22.]

On 19 November 1832, Benjamin H Munday, Richard Motley and Meriday Munday were bound in the penalty of $10,000 for Benjamin H Munday’s administration with the will annexed of the estate of Micajah Munday. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 23, page 7.]

Accounts of the estate of Micajah Munday, deceased, with Benjamin H Munday, curator, for 1832 were ordered recorded on 19 May 1834. On 5 March 1834, legatees agreed that they had received their share of the estate, including Geo Wright as sole legatee of S Boyce decd & as Attorney for Elizabeth Minter, Richd Motley, Thomas Munday, Meriday Munday, Wm Younger, and Francis Munday. Micajah Munday was mentioned, as deceased, in the 5 September 1835 will of Francis Munday, proved on 19 October 1835. “5thly I give the plantation on which I now reside at the death or marriage of my wife Elizabeth Munday with the exception of the ten acres already willed to my two sons James and Robert Munday or their heirs, if either should die without lawful heir the land is to revert to the other children; I also give the plantation on which the late Micajah Munday lived and died to my three sons Francis Reuben and John or their lawful heirs should either or all of them die without lawful heirs, then the land of each one or ones is to revert to the rest of my children It is my wish that my sons Francis Reuben and John should take possession of the land willed them immediately after my decease. It is moreover my wish that my sons James, Robert, Francis Reuben and John shoul dhave a credit of one two and three years on the money which they are to pay the other children for their overplus in land”.
