John P. Lee was mentioned in the 27 November 1801 will of his aunt, Mary Smith, proved 24 January 1803 in Westmoreland County, Virginia. [Westmoreland County, Virginia, Deeds and Wills 20, pages 418–419.]

The will of John P. Lee was dated 1 August 1814. “To my sister Whiting of Middlesex” and to her four daughters. Gloucester and Matthews lands. “The money I paid for Mr. John Micou to Henry Gaines, I never wish it to be applied for & to be considered as a gift to the said John Micou.” Brother Baldwin M. Lee. To George W. Lee. Signed John P. Lee. Witnesses: Alexander Somervail, Leod. Sale, Thos. Matthews, Ellis Armstrong. Proved 15 August 1814. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 18, pages 58–59.]

On 29 September 1814, an inventory and appraisal of the estate of John P. Lee was made by Ellis Armstrong, J W Upshaw, and D W Pitts. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 18, pages 505–506.]

On 18 October 1814, an inventory and appraisal of the estate of John P. Lee in the County of Middlesex was made by Thomas Blake, John Rowzee (S of J), and Larkin Conoly. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 18, pages 504–505.]

On 22 November 1814, Baldwin M. Lee and Paul Micou were bound in the penalty of $5,000 for Baldwin M. Lee’s administration de bonis non with the will annexed of John Lee, deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will book 18, page 81.]

The estate of John P. Lee, deceased, in account with Baldwin M. Lee, executor, from 1814 to 1818 was settled on 7 May 1818 by Paul Micou, Robt. S. Hipkins, and John Redman. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 18, pages 507–511.]

On 15 April 1822, Geo. W. Lee and Leonard Sale were bound in the penalty of $1,000 for Geo. W. Lee’s administration with the will annexed of the estate of John Lee, unadministered by Baldwin M. Lee, deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 19, page 283.]

On 15 November 1824, John H. Micou, John W. Hoomes, William B. Matthews, John R. Matthews, and Walter Bowie were bound in the penalty of $4,800 for John H. Micou’s administration de bonis non with the will annexed of John P. Lee. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 20, pages 89–90.]

On 15 April 1825, commissioners David Pitts, Bevan D. Pitts and William Garnett issued a report on the estate of John P. Lee, deceased, in account with Baldwin M. Lee, executor, whose executrix was Mary J. Lee. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 20, pages 198–211.]
