On 16 November 1829, Mourning Johnson and William Fisher were bound in the penalty of $4,000. Whereas in court held 16 November 1829 it was found by sundry witnesses that Delila Ferrell is an idiot, or lunatic and incapable of taking care of her person and property, the court did appoint Mourning Johnson Committee as well as of the person of Delila Ferrell. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 22, page 32.]

On 19 March 1832, Polly Barton and Ephraim Beazley were bound in the penalty of $4,000 for Polly Barton’s administration of the estate of Delila Ferrell, deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 22, page 421.]

On 30 April 1832, an inventory and appraisal of the estate of Delilah Ferrel was made by Ben H Munday, Wm C Latane, and Edmd F. Noel. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 22, page 435.]
