Leroy Cauthorn was mentioned in the 18 July 1814 will of his mother, Catherine Cauthorn, proved 17 April 1815. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 18, pages 143–144.]

On 14 June 1836, an inquisition held before Larkin Hundley, justice of the peace, was taken at William Steward’s in Essex County upon the view of the body of William Goode of the county aforesaid, and upon the oath of Nancy Stewart she states that William Goode, not having God before his eyes, but being seduced and moved by the instigation of the Devil, at William Stewart’s spring in the county, did shoot himself voluntarily and feloniously, as a felon of himself, killed and murdered against the peace and dignity of the Commonwealth. Jury: Geo W Shelton, James Dyke, Banks Garrett[?], Thomas Hundley, Henry Johnson, M L L [?] Dyke, F S Mitchell, John Johnson, Leroy Cauthorn, Absalom Cloudas, John Dunn, and Edmond Goode. On 28 April 1837, an inventory and appraisal of the estate Benjamin Hundley, deceased, was made by John Sadler, William L. Gatewood, and Leroy Cauthorn. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 24, page 273.]

On 19 December 1840, the appraisal of a negro Girl named Mary belonging to the estate of Mrs. Lucy Hundley, deceased, was made by John Sadler, Leroy Cauthorn, and William Oliver. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 24, page 565.]
