The will of William Upshaw was dated 29 August 1811. Nephew John Upshaw to take possession of all effects and property within the Territory of Orleans, and to inherit all property real and personal after the payment of just debts. Brother Edwin Upshaw of the state of Virginia to inherit all property within that state. Signed Wm Upshaw. Witnesses: Alfred Hennen, Saml. Moore, Thos. Urquhart, Robert Tremello, W: Rogers. Received by the register of wills in New Orleans on 16 September 1811. A petition by John Upshaw Waring states that William Upshaw died on 31 August 1811.
