Therza Shearwood daughter of Richard Shearwood & Lucy his wife was born 6 of July 1848. & died Jan. 29. 1888.

In the birth record of her son Walter her name is spelled Thursey. In the birth record of her son Richard her name is listed as Thursday. In her death record her name is spelled Thurston. In the 1860 census she is Thyna.

On 18 July 1878 in Essex County, Virginia, Wilton Brizendine was married to Thersa M. Shearwood by J. W. Hart. He was 25, single, born and residing in Essex County, son of Temple Brizendine and Mary Ann née Brizendine, occupation farmer; she was 25, single, born and residing in Essex County, daughter of Richard Shearwood and Lucy M. Boughan. [Essex County Marriage Register book 1, page 49.]

Essex County death record: she died of “paralasis”, aged 39 years 6 months on January 29 1887. Her husband was listed as Wilton Brizendine. She was a housekeeper. The record, which was clearly miscopied, lists her parents as Richard and Sherwood Brizendine. It adds that she was born in the Rappahannock District. This record is clearly in error, since her last child was born after this date of death. 39 years, 6 months would place her death in January 1888.
