Dorothy Boughan was mentioned in the 13 February 1719 will of her father John Boughan. She was to receive a share of the slaves of the estate when she came of age; the proceeds from the labors of the slaves were to help support her education. The will was proved on 19 July 1720. Dorothy Boughan was mentioned in the 30 January 1725 will of her mother Susanna Bryant. She was to receive a gold ring and was named a co-executor of the will. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 4, pages 193–194.]
