Dorothy Boughan was mentioned in the 13 February 1719 will of her father John Boughan. She was to receive a share of the slaves of the estate when she came of age; the proceeds from the labors of the slaves were to help support her education. The will was proved on 19 July 1720. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 3, pages 178–180.]

Dorothy Boughan was mentioned in the 30 January 1725 will of her mother Susanna Bryant. She was to receive a gold ring and was named a co-executor of the will. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 4, pages 193–194.]

On 18 April 1732, On the peticon of John Edmondson & Mary his wife late Mary Boughan one of the Daughters of John Boughan late decd against William Wortham & Dorothy his wife late Dorothy Boughan for their third part of the negroes & their increase and the psonal estate of the sd John Boughan decd the last Order of this Court (for Capt William Brooke, Capt Benja Winslow & Mr Robert Parker to State & Settle the sd William & Dorothys account of the estate of the sd John Boughan decd and Set apart & deliver to the sd John and Mary their due Share of the sd decedts estate) is continued and it is also ordered that the sd William, Benjamin, & Robert report their proceedings therein to next Court.
