In 1782 he (or someone else named Thomas Boulware) posted in Essex County, Virginia, the following public service claim for Revolutionary War support: Thomas Boulware Commis. for receiving 1892 bu grain at Lay[tons] storage £11-5; freight of corn to Fred’burg. & repairing vessel for the purpose £67-9-3; for receiving grain bacon, brandy &c & freight £72-8-9. On 15 April 1782, an additional claim was posted: Thomas Boulware 4 beefs 1100# £13-15. He is listed under “Acct. of Grass Beeves collected by Thos. Wood Commissioner of Essex County from Sept. 9, 1781” as “Boleware, Thomas 4 £9-3-4.”

On 21 October 1794, Griffing Boughan of the parish of St. Anne in the County of Essex sold to Thomas Boulware and Susanna his wife of the same. For and in consideration of the natural love & affection he hath for the said Thomas Boulware & Susanna his wife, who is the daughter of the said Griffing & for & in consideration of the sum of ten shillings, gives slaves Quander, a man, Sarah, a woman, Nanny, a girl, and Isabel, a girl. On 5 August 1796, Thomas and Susanna Boulware sold property to Augustin Boughan. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 34, page 332.]
