On 7 May 1709, “Jean Brown Late wife of the deceased Daniel Brown Sen’r of a County of Essex & parish of South farnham”, for valuable consideration, gives to son Henry Brown one third of her plantation. Signed Jean her I mark Browne. Witnesses: Alexander Younger, James Corree. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 13, page 224.]

Henry Brown was mentioned in the 3 April 1727 will of his mother Jeane Olive, proved 20 September 1727. Henry was to receive one large Black walnutt Table one large Chest with all the rest of my Estate in his hands. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 4, pages 237–238.]

On 17 May 1731, Henry Brown witnessed a deed from Francis Brown of the parish of Southfarnham and County of Essex to Henry Boughan junior of the same. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 19, pages 200–201.]

The will of Henry Brown of the County of Essex and parish of Southfarnham was dated 13 September 1733. To son Henry land. To son Mordecai land if Henry dies. To son John land and if he dies the land is to go to Richard. Loving wife Keziah. Two daughters Jane Brown and Keziah Brown. Godson Henry Boughan. Executors to be wife Keziah and son Henry. Signed Henry his H mark Brown. Witnesses: Thomas Barker, ffrancis his F mark Brown, George his R mark Radford. Presented by both executors on 16 April 1734 and proved by Thomas Barker and George Radford. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 5, pages 232–234.

On 13 September 1733, Keziah Brown, Henry Brown, Wm Dunn and Jonathan Haile were bound £100 sterling for Keziah Brown’s execution of the last will and testament of Henry Brown. Keziah signed with a mark. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 5, pages 235–236.]

An estate account of Henry Brown from 1733–1734 was returned by Kosiah her K mark Brown and Henry Brown. Ordered recorded 19 September 1738. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 6, pages 146–147.]

In Land Trails records for 21 May 1751 the will of Daniel Brown, of Essex County, South Farnham Parish, dated 18 January 1707, is recorded. The will gives his old plantation to his eldest son Abraham Brown. His next son, Henry Brown, received the old plantation. Henry was not yet 21 years old in 1707. The other son, Francis Brown, received remaining property. Francis was not yet 21 years old in 1707. Daniel Brown’s wife was Jane Brown, still living at the time of his death. Daughters included Sarah Boughan, Mary Brown, Jane Brown, and Elizabeth Brown. The will was proved 10 7ber 1708 [10 September]. There is also with this case a deed from Sarah Boughan, who was Sarah Brown, to Francis Boughan dated 13 October 1746, which refered to the will of Daniel Brown of 18 January 1707. The case came to trial because John Doe had sought an ejection notice for Francis Boughan, and Francis had failed to appear in court. A Henry Boughan is also mentioned. The division of the estate of Henry Brown was made 12 December 1765 by J: Edmondson, James Booker and Jas Mann. Lot 1 went to Thos Brooks, lot 2 to Mordecai Brown, and lot 3 to Richd Brown. Recorded 22 July 1766. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 12, pages 241–242.]
