On 20 May 1811, Ann Temple Browne and Christopher Tompkins were bound in the penalty of $20,000 for Ann T. Browne’s adminitration of the estate of Charles Browne. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 17, pages 285–286.]

On 11 May 1811, an inventory of the estate of Charles Browne, deceased, was made by Ann T. Browne, administratrix. Ordered recorded 20 August 1821. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 19, pages 241–242.]

On 20 August 1811, an inventory and appraisal of the estate of Charles Brown, deceased, was made by Newman Brockenbrough, Joseph Janey, and Anthony Haynes. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 17, pages 308–311.]

On 16 December 1822, Alexander Fleet and William Fleet were bound in the penalty of $20,000 for Alexander Fleet’s administration de bonis non of the estate of Charles Browne, deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 19, page 342.]

On 27 December 1822, an inventory of the slaves of the estate of Charles Browne was made by Wm. S. Waring, Wm Smith, and A. Haynes. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 19, page 395.]

The estate of Charles Browne, deceased, in account with Alexander Fleet, administrator, from 1825 to 1827 was ordered recorded 19 March 1827. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 19, pages 84–86.]

On 29 December 1830, the slaves belonging to the estate of Charles Browne were divided into four equal lots to Bennett Browne (noted as deceased, and his lot was further divided), Thomas Haynes, Christ. T. Browne, and Robt. T. Gwathmey. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 22, pages 202–203.]

The estate of Charles Browne, deceased, in account with Christopher Browne, administrator de bonis non, from 1827 to 1831 was ordered recorded on 17 October 1831. Includes on 1 July 1831 a division of assets into four equal parts to R. T. Gwathmey who intermarried with Sarah T. Browne, Thomas Haynes & Elizabeth L. his wife, Bennett Browne, and “my part”.
