On 6 November 1754, William Fretwell and Mary his wife of Southfarnham Parish in the County of Essex sold to James Booker. For £28.3, 68 acres adjoining land of James Booker, Kezia Brown, Francis Boughan and Hezekiah Brown. Signed Willm Fretwell, Mary her x mark Fretwell. On 4 December 1755, James Booker cast a vote for Colonel William Daingerfield for burgess of Essex County. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 27, pages 248–252.]

On 11 October 1756, Hezekiah Brown and Sally his wife of Amelia County sold to a James Booker of Essex County and Parish of Southfarnham. For £24.15 current money, 33 acres adjoining the land of James Booker, John Croxton, Frans Baughan. Given by his father through deed of gift. Signed Hezekiah Brown. On 15 August 1758, an inventory and appraisal of the estate of John Croxton was recorded, made by John Edmondson, a James Booker and Joseph Ryland. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 11, pages 121–123.]

On 31 January 1764, James Booker witnessed a deed from John Dix and Kerenhappuck his wife of the County of King and Queen to Ambrose Gatewood of the County of Essex. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 29, pages 287–290.]

On 30 November 1775, a marriage contract was executed between James Booker and Elizabeth Wright, widow. For 5 shillings, Elizabeth sells all her land, etc., to Thomas Wood so that she may continue to control it. Dated 30 November 1775. Signed James Booker, Elizabeth Wright, Thomas Wood. On 18 June 1793, execution of the estate of James Booker, deceased, was granted to Lewis Booker. Lewis Booker, William Edmondson and Thomas Dix acknowledge their bond in the penalty of £3,000. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 15, page 27.]

On 15 July 1793, administration of the estate of James Booker, deceased, was granted to Thomas Wood Senior. Thomas Wood Senior and Thomas Wood Junior acknowledge their bond in the penalty of £1,500. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 15, page 51.]
