John Evans was mentioned in the 2 August 1743 will of his father-in-law Herbert Waggoner. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 7, pages 36–37.]

On 5 April 1744, an inventory of the estate of John Minter deceased was given by Jams Webb, a Jno Evans jr, N Pendleton, John Minter and John Phillips. Total £197.17.0. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 7, pages 152–155.]

An inventory of the estate of Thomas Edmondson was ordered on 18 December 1750 and was made on 19 January 1750/1 by Wm Covington, Richd Gatewood and a Jno Evans. No total valuation. Presented by Thos Edmondson and Const Edmondson. Recorded 22 May 1751. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 9, pages 67–69.]

On 10 November 1756, a Jno Evans jr witnessed a deed from Samuel Smith and Grizel his wife to Henry Vass. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 27, pages 277–279.]

In November 1779, an inventory and appraisal of the estate of James Edmondson was made by a John Evans, Wm Young jr and Thos Evans. Very large total, about £3,000. Recorded 21 February 1780. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 13, page 270.] This record was recorded again but without Wm Young jr listed as an appraiser in Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 14, pages 85–86.]
