Lucy Cole was mentioned in the 11 October 1785 will of her mother Frankey Cole. She was to receive one feather bed and six silver table spoons. She and her sister Fanny were to receive other profits of the estate as they came of age. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 16, page 1.]

On 18 September 1826, Fanny Cole and Kemp Gatewood were bound in the penalty of $100 for Fanny Cole’s administration of the estate of Lucy Cole. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 21, pages 20–21.]
