An undated petition by orator John Richards states that Richard Gatewood died about 1760 leaving Robert Cole and Frances his wife, William Gatewood, Richard Tyler and Catharine his wife, Henry Allen & Frances his wife, Philemon Gatewood, Annie Gatewood & Elizabeth Gatewood by William Gatewood their next friend. Frankey Cole, wife of Robert Cole, was mentioned in the 21 October 1761 will of her father Richard Tyler. She was to receive a Negro named Frank. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 11, pages 386–389.]
The will of Frankey Cole was dated 11 October 1785. To daughter Fanny Cole one feather bed and furniture, dark Bay mare, and saddle and bridel. To daughter Lucy Cole one feather bed and six silver table spoons. The rest of estate to be sold, the profits divided between Fanny and Lucy as they come of age. Son Philimon Gatewood to be executor. The estate of Henry Allen was in account with Philemon Gatewood. Mentions to Mrs Frankey Cole Her Annuel Allowance from 1785 onwards to 1794. Mentions seven legatees. On 16 June 1800, Henry Young jr and Edmund Cauthorn were bound $2,000 for Henry Young’s administration with the will annexed of the goods, chattles and credits of Frankey Cole. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 16, pages 1–2.]
