Samuel Reeves was mentioned in the 28 April 1728 will of his father Henry Reeves. He was to receive a share in slaves and land and was listed as one of the seven youngest children. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 4, pages 342–344.]
The division of the estate of Mr Henry Reeves decd was made on 19 May 1730, delivered to the severall legatees according to his will. Lists accounts for The Widdows thirds, Mrs Sarah Reeves, Mr John Reeves, Mr Samuel Reeves, Mr George Reeves, Mr Richard Gatewood, Mrs Eliz: Reeves, Mrs Ann Reeves. Also dated 13 June 1730. The will of John Reeves of Southfarnham parish and County of Essex was dated 2 October 1736. Sister Eliza Reeves. Sister Patience Gatewood. Sister Ann Reeves. Brother George Reeves to be executor. Brother Thomas Reeves. Implies mother is still living. Signed John Reeves. Witnesses: James Gatewood, Gabriel Jones, William Allen junr, Aug: Boughan. Proved 18 May 1737. On 15 July 1740, George Reeves and ffrancis Attwood were bound unto John Allen £20 sterling as a result of a judgement that day in Essex County court wherein John Allen and Elizabeth his wife late Elizabeth Reeves were plaintiffs against George Reeves executor of the last will and testament of John Reeves deceased.
