On 18 July 1814, Jameson Moody, Lewis Dix, Carter Moody, Hundley Moody, and Larkin Moody were bound in the penalty of $16,000 for Jameson Moody’s administration of the goods, chattels and credits of Lewis Moody, deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 18, pages 56–57.]
The estate of Lewis Moody, deceased, in account with Jameson Moody, administrator, for 1814 to 1816 was settled by John Jones, Warner Lewis, and John Waring on 23 May 1816. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 18, pages 308–310.]
A petition stated that Lewis Moody died in June 1814, leaving a widow Sally and children Hundley, Larkin, Carter, Nancy, Dolly, and Sally, and Afra and George, both under 21 by their next friend Lewis Dix. Another daughter, Betsey Moody, married Samuel Woodson. Administration of Lewis Moody’s estate was granted to another son, Jameson Moody.
