On 17 January 1726, William Dunn sener & Thomas Dunn both of the parish of Southfarnham in the County of Essex sold to William Dunn junr: of the same. For £15 good and Lawfull money of England, a peice or parcell of Land Situate lying & being within the County of Essex in the parish of Southfarnham & on the North Side of a branch that divides the plantations of William Dunn Senr: & William Dunn junr: & bounded as followeth begining at a corner white oak being the Begining corner of the said Devident whereon the said William Dunn Senr: & Thomas Dunn now holds & dwells on & running along the line of the said pattent to a branch as before mentioned thence down the Several courses of the branch untill it comes to the opposite line of the said pattent or devident which line divides this Land from the Land of Mr: Richard Taylor thence along the said line to a corner Spanish oak Standing in Mr: Richard Taylors old feild thence to the place where it first begunn Containing one hundred acres be the same more or less. In the name of God Amen I William Dunne of the County of Essex Virga being sick & weak in body but of sound and perfect memory praise be given to God for the Same and knowing the uncertainty of this transitory life do make Constitute and Ordain this my last will and testamt in manner and form as following that is to say first & principally I Commend my soul to Almighty God my Creator assuredly beleiving that I shall receive full pardon and remission of all my Sins and be saved by the precious death and merrits of my blessed Saviour and redeemer Christ Jesus and my body to the earth from whence it was taken to be buried in such decent and Christian manner as to my Executors hereafter named shall be thought meet and Convenient and as touching such wordly estate as the Lord in mercy hath lent me my will & desier is the same shall be employed and bestowed as hereafter by this my will is expressed and first I do revoke, renounce, frustrate, and make void all wills and bequests by me formerly made & declare and appoint this my last will & testament Item I give and bequesth unto my three youngest Sons namely John, Benjamin and Jonathan Dunne five hundred acres of land lieing and being in the County of Caroline on the South Side of Matteponie river to be equally devided amongst them to them and their heirs for ever it being a track of land containing Six hundred acers of which I gave John Williamson one hundred acers at the upper end of the sd land for the seating and saveing the other five hundred acers of land Further my will and desier is that if I do no acknowlidge the abovesaid hundred acers of land to the sd John Williamson before my death that my Excrs hereafter named shall and may acknowlidge the above sd hundred acers of land to the sd John Williamson Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Suanah Smith one Shilling, Item I give & bequeath to my daughter Mary Gray one Shilling, Item I Lend the use of my personal estate to my loveing wife Alice Dunn dureing her natural life or till the day of marrige and if she should marry againe then to have her thirds, Item I give and bequeath after my wifes death or marrige again all my negros to be equaly divided amongst my five sons namely Thomas Dunn, William, John, Benjamin & Jonathan Dunn and all the rest of my estate real, and personal to be equally divided amongst my six youngest Children namely Alice Hayes, Sarah Williamson, John Dune, Benjamin Dunne, Jonathan Dune, & Anne Dunne, Item I do hereby ordain, Constitute, and appoint my beloved wife Alice Dunn, and my son Thomas Dunn, and my son William Dunne my whole sole Executrix of this my last will and testament As Witness, As witness, [sic] my hand & Seal this 5th day of Febarey 1731. On 18 July 1732, William Gatewood made oath that he did see William Dunn Sign, Seal, publish, & declare the within writing to be his last will & testament & that he the sd William Dunn was in pfect sence, & memory at the time of doing thereof.
On 19 July 1732, proved by all three witnesses and ordered to be recorded.

On 19 July 1732, Alice Dunn, William Dunn, Thomas Dunn, William Gray & Samuel Clayton were bound £300 Sterling for Alice Dunn’s, William Dunn’s & Thomas Dunn’s execution of the last will & testament of William Dunn, deceased. Signed Alice her A mark Dunn, Wm.

On 9 August 1732, an inventory of the estate of Mr William Dunn was made by Joseph Mann, Ambrose Jones and Wm Gatewood. Total valuation £103.6.3-3/4. Recorded 25 August 1732. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 5, pages 97–98.]

On 20 November 1732, an additional inventory of the estate of William Dunn was made by Joseph Man and William Gatewood. Recorded 21 November 1732. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 5, page 114.]

On 21 August 1733, On the petition of Edward Hayes & Alice his wife agst Thomas Dunn and William Dunn Executors of the last will & testament of William Dunn decd by the consent of both parties It is ordered that Henry Perkins, William Covington & Joseph Mann or any two of them do settle the sd Executors their account of the sd decedents Estate and proposition the sd petitionrs to get part of the sd Estate & report their proceedings therein to next court.
