Benjamin Dunn was mentioned in the 5 February 1731 will of his father William Dunn, proved on 19 July 1732. “I give and bequesth unto my three youngest Sons namely John, Benjamin and Jonathan Dunne five hundred acres of land lieing and being in the County of Caroline on the South Side of Matteponie river to be equally devided amongst them to them and their heirs for ever … I give and bequeath after my wifes death or marrige again all my negros to be equaly divided amongst my five sons namely Thomas Dunn, William, John, Benjamin & Jonathan Dunn and all the rest of my estate real, and personal to be equally divided amongst my six youngest Children namely Alice Hayes, Sarah Williamson, John Dune, Benjamin Dunne, Jonathan Dune, & Anne Dunne”. The will of Benjamin Dunn was dated 17 April 1778. “In the name of God amen. I Benjamin Dunn of the Parish of Southfarnham and County of Essex do make and ordain this my last will & Testament in manner and form as followeth. I lend to my Beloved wife Elizabeth Dunn all my Estate dureing her Life & at her death to be disposed of as I shall hereafter Direct. Imprimis. I give my land & plantation to be Equilly Divided amongst my three sons Benjamin Dunn Dickinson Dunn and Antoney Crow Dunn to them and their heirs forever. Item. I give to my son Phillip Dunn twenty Shillings Sterling to him and his heirs forever. Item I give to my son Dicinson Dunn my bigest Iron post one feather Bed & furniture & one Cow to him and his heirs forever Item I give to my son Benjamin Dunn one Cow and one Iron pot to him & his heirs forever Item I give to my son Anthoney Crow Dunn one Cow and one Iron pot & one feather bed & furniture to him & his heirs forever. Item I give to my Daughter Judath Crow one feather bed she has now in her possession the Rest of my Estate after the payment of my Just Debts I give to be Equally Divided amongst all my living Children to them and their heirs forever. Lastly I Constitute & appoint Benja. Dunn and Dickinson my Executors to this my last will given under my hand & Seal this 17th of April 1778.” X Benjamin Dunn Senr.

On 17 July 1780, an inventory and appraisal of the estate of Benjamin Dunn, deceased, by John Crow, Thomas Crutcher, and Wm. Howerton, was returned to court and ordered to be recorded.
