On 25 March 1893, Henry W. Boughan provided a deposition in the case of Dudley vs. Dudley in King William County.
Henry W. Boughan, a witness of lawful age being first duly sworn deposeth and says as follows
1st Question by Plaintiffs witness [sic]
Where do you reside, your age and occupation?
Answer West Point Va. Twenty seven years old
2nd Question by same. Do you know William Dudley and Mary S. Dudley?
Answer I do
3rd Ques. Did they ever live together as man and wife, and if so are they living together now
Answer. They did live together as man and wife in West Point at one time but they do not now
4” Question by same. When did they seperate and under what circumstances?
Answer. She left here November the 5" 1892 with a man named Sherman, I carried them to Tappahannock that day, arriving there at about half past two on the morning of the 6". They stopped at the Virginia House kept by Mr. G R Scott and passed off as man and wife, they occupied the same rooms and slept in the same bed I saw them early sunday morning and they were passing under an assumed name as man and wife. Mr Sherman told me that the child which they carried with them “raised the Devil” when he got in the bed

On 19 June 1943, Thomas Croxton Boughan married Ruby Lee Carlton in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He was 36, single, white, born at West Point, Virginia, son of H. W. Boughan and Estelle V. Bray, occupation USNR. She was 37, single, white, no indication of place of birth, daughter of I. G. Carlton and Alma Kate Bourne. [Essex County, Virginia, Marriage Register 3.]

On 14 May 1951, Henry Wood Boughan died at his home on Lee Street, West Point, King William County, Virginia, of which he was a usual resident. He was male; white; married; born 5 July 1866; age 84; occupation retired broker of white, lime, oysters; born in Essex County, Virginia; father was Theodore Pierson Boughan; mother was Margaret Anne Croxton; wife was Estelle V. Bray; informant was Croxton Boughan of West Point, Virginia; cause of death was cancer of lungs (6 months) due to angina pectora; other significant condition senile; attended from April 1923 to 14 May 1951; died at 12:25 p.m.; burial on 16 May 1951 at Sunny Slope Cemetery, West Point, Virginia.
