The will of William Gordon of the parish of Southfarnham and County of Essex, Planter, was dated 19 August 1767. Beloved wife Elizabeth. Son Thomas. Son John. Daughter Margaret. Daughters Eliza Cauthorn, Agnes Gordon and Mary Gordon. Executors to be sons Thomas and John. Signed W. Gordon. Witnesses: James Webb jr, John Williamson jr, Alice her X mark Williamson. On 12 September 1789, Phebe Dobbins made a deposition in the case of Rachel Gordon vs Barker Minter &c.: Your deponent Phebe Dobbins, wife of Thomas Dobbins. That “William Gordon Father to her deceased Husband died in the latter End of the year 1767, at which time Peggie Gordon Wife to the said Barker Minter, was living with her Mother Elizabeth Gordon, which she did, till May 1773, when Elizabeth Gordon died…” That her former husband was Thomas Gordon.
