In an undated petition, orators and oratrices Thomas Jones, Leonard Jones, Nathaniel W. Herbert and Clary his wife, Robert Lumpkin and Harriott his wife, and Coleman Jones an infant by Thomas Jones his next friend complained that Amey Jones before her marriage with Ephraim Beazley jr being possessed of the following slaves in her own right (a list follows) executed a deed of trust. Her father was Leonard Burnett. More slaves were expected from his estate. Ephraim Beazley is somewhat in debt to several persons. (The relationships are not stated, but it implies that Thomas Leonard, Clary, Harriott, and Coleman are children of Amey.) [Essex County, Virginia, Box Chancery No. 30, item 30-A-35.]

On 16 March 1813, William Jones certified that he had sold all right to a legacy left him by his grandfather Benja. Jones deceased to Leonard Jones, son to William’s uncle William Jones. [Essex County, Virginia, Box Chancery No. 22, item 22-M-61.]
