On 17 April 1815, George Newbill, Thomas Newbill, Travis Gatewood and John Gresham jr were bound in the penalty of $15,000 for George Newbill’s and Thomas Newbill’s execution of the last will and testament of William Newbill, deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 18, page 142.]
On 21 August 1821, orders heretofore made by Essex County court for the settlement of George and Thomas Newbill of the estate of William Newbill were recinded, and the settlement of the accounts were referred to Master Commissioner Laurence Muse, who settled the accounts on 17 June 1822. In 1824, petition was made to the Honble Judge of the Chancery District Court of Fedrs’g. That William Newbill of the County of Essex died in 1815 testate leaving a wife Rebecca and children Thomas, John, William, George, James, Richard, and Polly Newbill, Elizabeth Garrett and Ann Gatewood.
