On 20 June 1796, the estate of a William Dunn (M.R.) (also listed as William Dunn Jur. (M.R.)) in account with Evan Davis from 1783 to 1794 was recorded. Division equally between Peachey Dunn, Lucy Dunn, Elizabeth Kidd Dunn and William Smith Dunn. Made by Edward Ware, William Newbill and Richd Holt. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 15, pages 235-236.]

On 20 October 1800, William Newbill, along with Jno Haile, Charles Howerton, Ambrose Hunley, Richard Thomas Haile, George Howerton and Wm Howerton bound themselves $4,000 to Essex County court, as Jno Haile and Charles Howerton were named administrators of the goods of Ambrose Howerton deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 16, pages 37-38.]

On 5 September 1801, Orators Wm Gatewood & William Newbill filed a complaint in King and Queen County court. That your orator [sic] in the year [blank] married Phebe Holt, daughter of Richard Holt who died intestate. That Richard Holt, son of the intestate Richard Holt, secured administation of the estate. That William Gatewood purchased at the estate sale with William Newbill as his security, and that a sum of money is now due to William Gatewood from the estate. On 19 September 1803, William Howerton and William Newbill were bound $1,500 for William Howerton's administration of the goods, chattles and credits of Catharine Edmondson deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 16, pages 251-252.]

To William Newbill admr of Agrippa Doggins from Major Boughan take notice that I will take the affidavits of sundry Witnesses on Sat the 12th-you may attend. Caston Boughan made oath that he delivered a copy of this notice to William Newbill on 12 July 1806. [Essex County, Virginia, Box Chancery No. 28, item 28-E-21.]

On 12 July 1806, a John Croxton of lawful age made an affidavit at the house of Major Boughan in the suit of William Newbill admr of Agrippa Dogins decd plt & Major Boughan deft. Re a debt. [Essex County, Virginia, Box Chancery No. 28, item 28-E-20.]

The estate of Mace Clements, deceased, in account with William Newbill, administrator, from 1807 to 1812 was ordered recorded on 18 February 1817. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 18, pages 352–354.]

The will of William Newble was dated 30 March 1815. Wife Rebecca Newble. Son John Newble. Son William Newble. Son George Newble. Son Richard Newble. Daughter Polly Newble. Daugther Elizabeth Garrett. Daughter Ann Gatewood. James Webb, William Fleet, Thomas Newble, George Newble and William Newble all to be executors. Signed Wm Newbill. Witnesses: Thos. B. W. Gray, John Gresham, Peter Broocke. Condicil provides legacy to “the widow Durham named Catherine”. Proved 17 April 1815. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 18, pages 148–149.]

On 17 April 1815, George Newbill, Thomas Newbill, Travis Gatewood and John Gresham jr were bound in the penalty of $15,000 for George Newbill’s and Thomas Newbill’s execution of the last will and testament of William Newbill, deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 18, page 142.]

On 23 August 1815, Thomas Newbill, Lewis Dix, Henry C. Howerton and Thomas Dix jr were bound in the penalty of $15,000 for Thomas Newbill’s execution of the last will and testament of William Newbill, deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 18, pages 205–206.]

On 18 September 1815, Polly Newbill and Richard Newbill were listed as orphans of William Newbill. [Essex County, Virginia, Order Book 42, page 57.]

On 16 April 1816, Thomas M Henley and Austin Brockenbrough were bound in the penalty of £200 for Thomas M Henley’s administration with the will annexed of the estate of Mace Clements, deceased, unadministered by William Newbill, deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 18, page 276.]

On 21 August 1821, orders heretofore made by Essex County court for the settlement of George and Thomas Newbill of the estate of William Newbill were recinded, and the settlement of the accounts were referred to Master Commissioner Laurence Muse, who settled the accounts on 17 June 1822. In 1824, petition was made to the Honble Judge of the Chancery District Court of Fedrs'g. That William Newbill of the County of Essex died in 1815 testate leaving a wife Rebecca and children Thomas, John, William, George, James, Richard, and Polly Newbill, Elizabeth Garrett and Ann Gatewood.
