Richard Rowzee was mentioned in the 26 February 1807 will of his father, John Rowzee, proved on 20 February 1815. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 18, pages 113–114.]
On 21 February 1815, Richard Rowzee, William B. Matthews and George W. Banks were bound in the penalty of $12,000 for Richard Rowzee’s execution of the last will and testament of John Rowzee, deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 18, page 115.]
On 21 February 1815, Geo: W. Banks, Tunstall Banks and William L. L. Clements were bound in the penalty of $5,000 unto Richard Rouzee. The condition of this obligaion was such that whereas the said Richard Rouzee did on the 21st day of February 1815 together with Henry H. Boughan and Tunstall Banks become security for the above George W. Banks in a bond to the justices of Essex County Court for the legal administration of the estate of Susanna Boulware, deceased, and whereas also the said George W. Banks is willing fully to indemnify and save harmless the said Richard Rouzee against all damages which he may sustain or be put to in consequence of his becoming security, now George W. Banks shall fully indemnify and save harmless the said Richard Rouzee. Signed Geo: W Banks, Tunstall Banks, Wm L L Clements. Witness: Laurence Muse. On 19 March 1838, presented in court. James R Micou and Wm S Wright declare they were well acquainted with the handwriting of Laurence Muse the only subscribing witnesses who is now dead, and that they believe the signature is proper, and the bond was ordered recorded. On 20 March 1815, Edward Rowzee, Benjamin H. Munday and Richard Rowzee were bound in the penalty of $30,000 for Edward Rowzee’s execution of the last will and testament of John Rowzee, deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 18, page 135.]
Richard Rouzee was mentioned in the 29 April 1822 will of his sister, Agnes Rouzee, proved 21 April 1823. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 19, page 368.]
Richard Rowzee was mentioned in the 22 April 1833 will of his father-in-law, Archibald Ritchie, proved 17 March 1834, and was named an executor. “4thly On the death or marriage of my beloved wife Martha H I hereby direct my Executors hereinafter named to divide the property heretofore loaned to my wife during her life or widowhood and to my son in law Jones C Clopton during the life or widowhood of my beloved wife Martha H. into two equal parts — one of which equal part I give to my daughter Janet R Rouzee and her heirs forever; the other equal part I give to my daughter Mary Juliet Clopton and her heirs forever … 6th and lastly — I do hereby appoint my two friends & sons in law Richard Rowzee and Jones C Clopton to be executors of this my last Will and Testament”. On 17 March 1834, presented in court; William A Wright and George Wright say they were well acquainted with the handwriting of Archibald Ritchie. On 21 April 1834, a certificate granted Jones C Clopton and Richard Rowzee in order to their obtaining probate.
