The will of Townley Banks was dated 30 December 1817. To my Sister Lucy Burke one Negro woman by the name of Cloe. To Niece Nancy Burke six Silver Tea Spoons. To my Cousin Martha Davis, one Bed & furniture. The balance of my estate to be equally divided between aunt Peggy Davis, Susanna Blake, Sarah Sowell and Joseph Mann Senr. Peter B. On 16 February 1818, Peter B. Davis and Joseph Mann were bound in the penalty of $600 for Peter B. Davis’s execution of the last will and testament of Townley Banks, deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 18, page 472.]
