The will of Rachel Ware was dated 31 August 1823. To Elizabeth Dean a number of personal items during her life, and at her death to be disposed of as follows. To my grand daughter Frances G. Ware. Remainder of estate to be sold to support grand daughter Frances G. Ware. If Frances reaches the age of 21 or marries, then she is to have all of the estate, but if she should die before then, then the estate to be equally divided between James Greenwood and Thomas Greenwood (sons of Twyman Greenwood) and Mary Purkins, daughter of Susanna Lumpkin. Winter Bray and James Greenwood to be executors. Signed Rachel her x mark Ware. Witnesses: Anthony Lumpkin, Isaac Fisher, Amos Cauthorn, Twyman Greenwood. Proved on 17 November 1823. On 17 November 1823, Winter Bray, Thomas Pilcher and Charles Bray were bound in the penalty of $1,000 for Winter Bray’s executorship of the estate of Rachel Ware, deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 19, page 421.]

The estate of Rachel Ware, deceased, in account with Winter Bray, administrator, from 1823 to 1825 was settled on 20 July 1825 by Lawrence Muse, commissioner. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 20, pages 238–239.]
