On 21 November 1814, John Gray, Samuel Dishman, David Dishman and Daniel Rennolds were bound in the penalty of $3,000 for John Gray’s administration of the goods, chattles and credits of Obed Gray, deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 18, page 74.]

John Gray was mentioned in the 3 June 1830 will of his brother Obed Gray, proved 16 August 1830. I lend to Aunt Jane Dishman the balance of estate real and personal. After her death, to my brother John Gray half of land and personal estate. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 22, pages 147–148.]
