On 8 April 1807, Obed Gray witnessed the will of Samuel Dishman. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 17, pages 18–19.]
On 21 November 1814, John Gray, Samuel Dishman, David Dishman and Daniel Rennolds were bound in the penalty of $3,000 for John Gray’s administration of the goods, chattles and credits of Obed Gray, deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 18, page 74.]
The estate of Obed Gray in account with John Gray, administrator, from 1814 to 1818 was settled by James M. Garnett, Thos. Pitts, and Muscoe Garnett, and returned to court on 20 April 1818. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 18, pages 478–479.]
