The will of Richard C Segar of the County of Essex was dated 11 January 1831. Estate both real and personal to wife Drusilla M Segar, except the following provisions. To Horace Dunn brace of pistols, to James Arthur Dunn my gun. Horace Dunn and James Dunn to be executors. Signed R. C. Segar. Witnesses: Austin Broocke, Philip Johnson, Lawson D Johnson. On 21 November 1832, James Dunn and William Oliver were bound in the penalty of $1,500 for James Dunn’s executorship of the estate of Richard C Segar. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 23, pages 10–11.]
