On 27 December 1805, a division of the slaves belonging to the estate of William B. Sale was made by John Jones, W Fisher, and Micajah Munday. In addition to a widow’s dower, eight equal lots went to Fielding Sale, John Rouzie & Wife, Nancy Sale, Polly Sale, Arrenia Sale, Kitty Sale, Oswald Sale, and Hortens Sale (also listed as Hawkins or Hawtins). Returned to court and ordered recorded on 17 June 1817. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 18, pages 414–415.]

Fielding Sale was mentioned in the 8 September 1829 will of his brother Oswald B Sale, proved on 15 December 1834. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 23, page 307.]

Fielding Sale was mentioned in the 14 February 1832 will of his mother, Nancy Sale, proved 20 May 1833. He was to receive her entire estate and was to be executor. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 23, page 93.]

On 20 May 1833, Fielding Sale, John Rowzee and James Andrews were bound in the penalty of $1,000 for Fielding Sale’s executorship of the estate of Nancy Sale, deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 23, pages 93–94.]

On 15 August 1836, Robert Hill, Fielding Sale and Meriday Munday were bound in the penalty of $8,000 for Robert Hill’s administration of the estate of Margaret Gibson. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 24, page 58.]

The will of Fielding Sale was dated 21 February 1841. To my sister Mary R Noel Eight hundred dollars at the expiration of five years after my death. To my sister Hortins Andrews five years after my death. The balance of my estate to my nephew John Rouzee, executor to this my last Will. Signed Fielding his x mark Sale. Witnesses: L. C. Gatewood, John Purks, Jon [sic] Greenstreet. On 15 March 1841 proved by all three witnesses. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 24, page 571.]

On 15 March 1841, John S Rowzee and George Wright were bound in the penalty of $8,000 for John S Rowzee’s execution on the estate of Fielding Sale, deceased. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 24, pages 576.]
