On 18 June 1835, B D Pitts witnessed the will of John H. Brizendine, and proved the will in court on 20 June 1836. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 24, page 49.]

B. D. Pitts was mentioned in the 17 June 1834 will of his brother D. W. Pitts, proved 17 July 1837. “The balance of my Estate I leave to my Brother B D Pitts to him and his heirs forever.” [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 24, pages 139–140.]

On 17 July 1837, Bevan D. Pitts, Reuben L. Pitts, Edward Wright, Wm. A. Wright, Albert G. Oneale, Lineus C. Gatewood, and David P. Wright were bound in the penalty of $150,000 for Bevan D.
