William was mentioned in the 18 October 1701 will of his father, Henry Pickett, proved 10 August 1702. “Item I give unto my laveing sonn William Pickett all my devetdet of Laands being in the frisges[?] of Rapthanock River to him & his hares forever … Item I Give unto my Loveing wife Elizabeth Pickett ye Lande which I nowe Live one dureing hir life allsoe the halfe of my parsnall Estate between hir & the Childe that she nowe goes with all the other halfe of my Estat to my Sonn William Pickett ordaining my Loveing wife & my two Sonns John & William Exectricke & Exectors of this my last Will & Testament.” [Essex County, Virginia, Deeds and Wills 10, page 117.]
On 12 November 1702, John Pickett, James Boughan, and James Fullerton were bound £200 sterling for John Pickett’s guardianship of William Picket, orphan of Henry Picket. Witnesses: Edw: Gouldman, Erasmus Allen. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 10, page 126.]
