On 27 June 1841, Robert Moore was baptised on Cloonclare Church of Ireland, County, Leitrim, son of Robert and Catherine Moore, address Gortnalibret. [Church of Ireland, Church Baptism Record.]

On 21 December 1867, John Moore of the town of Yonkers and County of Westchester and State of New York, and Catharine his wife, sold to Robert Moore of the same place. For $700 lawful money of the United States, a parcel in the Village of Yonkers in the town of Yonkers, County of Westchester and State of New York. Beginning on the Easterly side of School Street at a point distant one hundred twenty five feet southerly from the southwesterly corner of a lot of land belonging to the School District No two of the town of Yonkers and thence running at right angles with said School Street North eighty seven and one half degrees East one hundred feet, thence south two and one half degrees East twenty five feet to land belonging to Frederick Friend; thence south eighty seven and one half degrees west along the Northerly side of said Friends land one hundred feet to the Easterly side of School Street aforesaid and thence running along the Easterly side of said school street North two and one half degrees west twenty five feet to the place of beginning. The same being a portion of a lot No Thirty six school street as laid down on map [sic] drawn by T C Carroll by order of the Board of Trustees November 1857. With the appurtenances thereunto belonging. Signed John his x mark Moore, Catharine Moore. Witness: H H Taylor. On 21 December 1867, came John Moore and Catharine his wife before H H Taylor, Justice of the Peace, to acknowledge the same as their deed, and Catharine released dower rights. On 1 July 1869, Thomas Caddoo of the Town of Yonkers and County of Westchester and State of New York sold to Robert Moore. For $860, a lot in the Town of Yonkers, County of Westchester and State of New York. Beginning at a point on the Northerly side of Oliver Avenue where the same intersects the Easterly line of Brook Street and running thence North forty one degrees and forty five minutes East along the Easterly side of Brook Street One hundred and two feet six inches thence South forty seven degrees and forty five minutes East twenty five feet thence South forty one degrees and forty five minutes next one hundred and two feet six inches to the Northerly side of Oliver Avenue aforesaid thence along Oliver Avenue North forty seven degrees and forty five minutes next twenty five feet to the place of Beginning. With the appurtenances thereunto belonging. Signed Thomas Caddoo. On 1 July 1869, James Agnew of the city of Brooklyn and County of Kings and State of New York, and Margaret his wife, sold to Robert Moore of the Town of Yonkers, County of Westchester and State of New York. For $425, a lot in the Town of Yonkers, County of Westchester and State of New York. Beginning at a point on the northeasterly side of Oliver Avenue distant twenty five feet southeasterly from the southeasterly side of Brook Street and running thence north forty one degrees and forty five minutes East and parallel with the said southeasterly side of Brook Street one hundred and two feet six inches; thence south forty seven degrees and forty five minutes East twenty five feet; thence South forty one degrees and forty five minutes west one hundred and two feet six inches to the northeasterly side of Oliver Avenue aforesaid; thence along Oliver avenue north forty seven degrees and forty five minutes west twenty five feet to the place of beginning. On 12 July 1869, Robert Moore of the Town of Yonkers and County of Westchester and State of New York, and Hannah his wife, sold to Christopher Moore of the same place. For $1,000 lawful money of the United States, a lot of land in the Village of Yonkers in the Town of Yonkers, County of Westchester and State of New York. On 15 November 1870, the Village of Yonkers issued an order for the sale of lots in the town for which tax was delinquent, published in The Yonkers Statesman on 24 Novemher 1870. Owners were required to pay by 15 December 1870 to avoid sale. Among those listed was Robert Moore, for one half of Lot 36, located on the east side of School Street, $1.57 in arrears. On 30 March 1872, Robert Moore of the Town of Yonkers and County of Westchester and State of New York, and Hannah his wife, sold to James McGraw of the same place. For $1,500, a lot in the Town of Yonkers, County of Westchester and State of New York. Beginning at a point on the northeasterly side of Oliver Avenue distant twenty-five feet southeasterly from the south-easterly side of Brook Street; and running thence north forty-one degrees and forty-five minutes east and parallel with the said southeasterly side of Brook Street one hundred and two feet six inches thence south forty-seven degrees and forty-five minutes east twenty-five feet; then south forty-one degrees and forty-five minutes west one hundred and two feet six inches to the northeasterly side of Oliver Avenue aforesaid; thence along Oliver Avenue north forty-seven degrees and forty-five minutes west twenty-five feet to the place of beginning. On 26 April 1872, Charles Wolff of the Town of Yonkers and County of Westchester and State of New York, and Mary his wife, sold to Robert Moore of the same place. For $800, a lot in the Village of Yonkers, County of Westchester and State of New York. Beginning at a point on the Westerly side of School Street distant Twenty four (24) feet Southerly from the corner formed by the intersection of the Southerly line of Brook Street with the Westerly line of School Street and running thence South Eighty seven degrees and thirty minutes West Seventy (70) feet thence South two degrees and thirty minutes East Twenty five (25) feet thence North Eighty seven degrees and thirty minutes East Seventy (70) feet to the westerly side of School Street thence along the westerly side of School Street Twenty five (25) feet to the place of beginning. On 1 January 1873, Robert Moore of the City of Yonkers and County of Westchester and State of New York, and Hannah his wife, sold to John Miller of the City of New York. For $3,900, a lot in the City of Yonkers and County of Westchester. Beginning at a point on the Westerly side of School Street distant Twenty four (24) feet Southerly from the corner formed by the intersection of the southerly line of Brook Street with the westerly line of School Street and running thence South Eight seven degrees and thirty minutes West Seventy (70) feet thence South two degrees and thirty minutes East Twenty five (25) feet Thence North Eighty seven degrees and thirty minutes East Seventy (70) feet to the Westerly Side of School Street thence along the Westerly side of School Street Twenty five (25) feet to the place of beginning. On 26 May 1873, Robert Moore became a naturalized citizen of the United States, giving his name as Robert Moore, living in Yonkers, N.Y., occupation carpenter, former nationality English. The witness to his naturalization was John Kollmer of 61 Park Street, New York City. On 17 February 1874, Robert Moore leased a plot of land on Durham Street in Baltimore from John Masson and Sarah Masson his wife, and purchased the improvements from John W. Sanner:
This Lease made this seventeenth day of February in the year one thousand eight hundred and seventy four between John Masson and Sarah Masson his wife of the City of Baltimore and State of Maryland, of the first part, and Robert Moore of the city and State aforesaid, of the second part, and John W. Sanner of the same place of the third part. Witnesseth that the said John Masson and Sarah Masson his wife in consideration of the payment of the rent hereby reserved, do grant and lease unto the said Robert Moore his personal representatives and assigns, All that piece or parcel of ground situate and lying in the City of Baltimore aforesaid and thus described Beginning for the same on the line of the west side of Durham Street at the distance of Seventy four feet Northerly from the Northwest corner of Chew and Durham Streets, which place of beginning is at the corner of a ten foot alley and Durham Street, and running thence Northerly bounding on the west side of Durham street Twelve feet to the centre of the partition wall between the house on this lot and the house on the lot adjoining on the North, thence Westerly through the centre of the said partition wall to the end thereof, and continuing the same course in all fifty feet to another alley ten feet wide, thence Southerly binding on the East side of said alley, with the use and privilege thereof in common Twelve feet to the north side of said first named ten foot alley, and then Easterly binding on said alley fifty feet to the place of beginning. Being part of the same ground which by deed dated the 21st day of November 1872, and recorded among the Land records of Baltimore City in Liber G.A. No 589 folio 362 &c was granted and conveyed by the McDonough Place Company to said John Masson in fee simple. Together with the improvements thereon, and the rights, ways, waters, privileges, advantages and appurtenances thereto belonging or appertaining: To Have and To Hold the said described property and premises, with the rights and appurtenances aforesaid, unto the said Robert Moore his personal representatives and assigns, from the day next before the day of the date hereof, for the full term of ninety nine years; the said Robert Moore his heirs personal representatives or assigns paying therefor to the said John Masson his heirs or assigns, the next or yearly sum of Twenty seven dollars reckoning from the first of John eighteen hundred and seventy three, and payable thereafter in equal half yearly installments, on the first day of January and July respectively, in every year during this demise, over and above all deductions for taxes and assessments of every kind, assessed or levied hereafter to be assessed or levied thereon and on the rent hereby reserved. Provided that if the said rent, or any part thereof, shall at any time be in arrear, the said John Masson may distruin therefor, and by all lawful ways recover the same. Provided Also, that if the said rent or any part thereof, shall at any time be sixty days in arrear, it shall be lawful for the said John Masson his heirs or assigns, to re-enter and hold the said property until all such arrearages of rent, with interest thereon, and all expenses incurred by such non payment, shall be fully satisfied. And Provided Also, that if the said rent shall be in arrear for six months it shall be lawful for the said John Masson his heirs or assigns to re-enter and annul this Lease and hold the said property as in his or their former estate. And the said Robert Moore covenants to pay the said yearly rent, at the periods above limited for the payment of the same: Also, to pay all taxes and assessments of every kind, assessed or levied, or hereafter to be assigned or levied, on the said property and on the said yearly rent. And the said John Masson covenants that on payment by said Lessee of the yearly rent aforesaid, and the performance by him of the covenants herein mentioned to be performed, the said Robert Moore his personal representatives or assigns, may at all times, peaceably hold and enjoy the said premises, without the let or interruption of the said Lessor, or any person claiming by from or under him. And Also that any time during this Lease the said John Masson his heirs or assigns will at the request and proper cost of the said Lessee his personal representatives or assigns, execute and deliver to him or them a new Lease of the above-described property, for another term of ninety nine years, to commence at the end of the term hereby granted, subject to the same rent, and with the like covenants and conditions, and particularly a covenant for renewals in perpetuity, so that the present Lease, if not forfeited according to its provisions shall be renewable and renewed, from time to time, forever. And this Lease further witnesseth, that the said John W. Sanner is consideration of the sum of Seven hundred and Fifty Dollars, doth grant and assign unto the said Robert Moore his personal representatives and assigns, All his right, title, interest and claim in unto and out of the said described lot of ground and the Improvements thereon. On 17 February 1874, Robert Moore mortgaged property on Durham Street in Baltimore to David Little:
This Mortgage made this seventeenth day of February in the year one thousand eight hundred and seventy four by Robert Moore of Baltimore City in the State of Maryland. Whereas the said Robert Moore is justly indebted until David Little of said City in the sum of Four Hundred and Fifty six Dollars, being cash loaned him by said Little, and has passed unto the said David Little his promissory note for said sum of money, bearing even date herewith, and payable to the order of said David Little. Two years after date with Interest payable half yearly, and for the purpose of securing the punctual payment of said note at its maturity these presents are executed. Now this Mortgage Witnesseth, that in consideration of the premises, and of One Dollar, the said Robert Moore doth grant and assign unto the said David Little his executors administrators and assigns, All that parcel of ground situate and lying in the City of Baltimore aforesaid, and thus described Beginning for the same on the west side of Durham Street, at the distance of seventy four feet Northerly from the North west corner of Durman and Chew Streets, and at the corner of a ten foot alley, and running thence Northerly or Durham Street Twelve feet to the center of a partition wall, thence Westerly through the center of said wall to the end thereof, and continuing the same course in all fifty feet to another ten foot alley, thence Southerly binding on the East side of said alley, with the use and privilege thereof in common Twelve feet to the North side of said first named alley, and thence Easterly by a straight line in said alley fifty feet to the place of beginning. Being the same ground which by deed bearing even date herewith and recorded among the Land records of Baltimore City prior hereto, was leased by John Masson and wife to said Robert Moore, subject to the annual rent of Twenty Seven Dollars. Together with the improvements thereon, and the rights and appurtenances thereto belonging. To Have and to Hold the said described property, with the rights and appurtenances aforesaid, unto the said David Little his executors, administrators and assigns, during all the residue of the term of years yet to come and unexpired therein, with the benefit of renewal of said term forever; subject to the payment of the yearly rent aforesaid. Provided that if the said Robert Moore or any person in his behalf shall well and truly pay to the said David Little his executors, administrators or assigns the aforesaid sum of Four hundred and Fifty six Dollars and the interest thereon when the same shall become due and payable according to the term of the aforesaid promissory note and shall perform the covenants herein contained, on his or their part to be performed, then this mortgage shall be void. And the said Robert Moore doth hereby declare his assent to the passing of a Decree, by any Court of competent jurisdiction, for a sale of the property hereby mortgaged, to take place at any time after default shall have been made in payment of the Mortgage Debt aforesaid, or the interest thereon, or any part thereof, whether the time limited for the payment of the whole debt shall have expired or not, pursuant to the provisions of the Maryland Code of Public Local Laws, Article IV., Section 782, &c., or any Suplements [sic] thereto, relating to Mortgages in the City of Baltimore: and in the event of sale under such Decree, the proceeds thereof shall be applied to the payment of all claims of said Mortgagee his representatives or assigns, under this mortgage, whether the same shall have matured or not. And it is Agreed between the said parties, that until default be made in the premises, the said Mortgager shall hold and possess the hereby mortgaged property, and receive the rents and profits thereof, upon paying in the meantime the ground rent, and all taxes thereon, and also the Mortgage Tax on the debt hereby secured; which ground rent, taxes and Mortgage Debt and interest the said Mortgagor for himself his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, hereby convenant to pay when legally demandable. And also, during the continuance of this Mortgage, to Keep the improvements on the said mortgaged premises insured against damage and loss by fire, to the amount of at least Four hundred and Fifty six dollars, and to cause the policy of such insurance to be so framed or endorsed as that in case of loss by fire the avails thereof shall enure to the benefit of the said Mortgagee or his assigns, to the extent of his or their lien or claim under this Mortgage. [Note: Baltimore City streets were renumbered in 1886. 278 North Durham became 902 North Durham, which would be the property described in the lease and mortgage of 17 February 1874. Chew Street is now known as Ashland Avenue, and the area where this home would have stood is now a parking lot for Johns Hopkins Hospital. In 1876, a police station was built directly across the street on the south side of Chew Street, and this building, which still stands, is known as Deering Hall and houses the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics.]

On 31 July 1875, a child was born to Hannah Moore (maiden name McCordick), born in Ireland, and Robert Moore, a carpenter, born in Ireland. The child was born at 278 Durham Street in Baltimore City, Maryland, the fifth child of Hannah Moore. (At this time, birth certificates did not record the name of the child.) This Mortgage made this seventh day of March in the year one thousand eight hundred and seventy six between Robert Moore in the State of Maryland mortgager and the East Baltimore Permanent Land and Building Society of Baltimore City (a Body Corporate duly incorporated) mortgagee Whereas the said Robert Moore mortgager being a member of the Land Body Corporate has received therefrom in accordance with the provisions of its Charter and By Laws an advance of Four hundred dollars on his one share of its stock the said sum of four hundred dollars being the par value of said one share And Whereas it was a condition precedent to said advance that these presents should be executed to secure to the said mortgage the payment of all unpaid installments on said redeemed shares together with interest on the said advance and a premium of Twenty eight cents per share as also such fines and penalties as may be imposed upon said mortgagor by the said By Laws in accordance with the stipulations herein after mentioned to the payment of all which unpaid installments interest premium fines and penalties in accordance with the By Laws of the said mortgagee the said mortgagor hereby fully agrees now therefore this mortgage Witnesseth that in consideration of the premises and the sum of Five Dollars the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged the said Robert Moore doth grant unto the said East Baltimore Permanent Land and Building Society of Baltimore City its successors and assigns all that lot of ground situate and lying in the City aforesaid on the line of the west side of Durham Street at the distance of seventy four feet northerly from Chew Street and at the corner of a ten feet alley and Durham Street which by Deed of Lease dated February 17th 1874 and recorded among the Land Records of Baltimore City Liber G R no 647 folio 7 &c was demised and leased by John Masson and wife to said mortgagor at under and subject to the yearly rent of Twenty seven Dollars and which is therein more particularly described as by reference thereto will fully appear Together with the buildings and improvements thereupon and the rights ways waters privileges appurtenances and advantages thereto belonging or in any wise appertaining To Have and To Hold the said lot of ground and premises unto the said East Baltimore Permanent Land and Building Society of Baltimore City its successors and assigns for all the rest and residu of the term of years yet to come and unexpired therein with the benefit of renewal forever subject however to the yearly rent aforesaid Provided that if the same mortgagor shall make the payments and perform the covenants herein on his past contained then this mortgage shall be void and the said mortgagor for himself his heir executors administrators and assigns covenants with the said East Baltimore Permanent Land and Building Society of Baltimore City its successors and assigns to pay and perform as follows that is to say To Pay the said mortgagee or its assigns at its or their office the weekly sum of one dollar and twenty two cents on every Tuesday for and during the term of sixteen years or Eight hundred and thirty two weeks commencing with Tuesday the — day of February 1876. To Pay all ground rents and taxes for which the property hereby mortgaged may become liable when payable the interest in the said sum of $400.00 and also the weekly premium of twenty eight cents per share being included in the said weekly payment of $1-22/100 also to obey all By Laws that are now in force or that may hereafter be adopted by the said mortgagee in respect of redeemed shares during the continuance of this mortgage and to pay all fines that may be imposed on him by the said mortgagee in accordance with its By Laws and to keep the improvements on the said ground fully insured from loss by fire for the use of the mortgagee to the extent of the said sum of $400.00 all of which payments and covenants shall continue in force until the entire amount of said advance interest premium fines and penalties shall have been fully paid to the said mortgagee its successors or assigns And the said mortgagor doth hereby assign transfer and release to the said mortgagee all his interest in and to the shares hereby redeemed and to all profits that are now or may hereafter be made by the said mortgagee And in case of any default being made in any condition of this mortgage then the whole mortgage debt hereby intended to be secured shall be deemed due and demandable and the said mortgagor consents that a decree may be passed for the sale of land property the sale to take place after a default in any of the conditions of this mortgage shall have continued for three months under the provisions of the sections 782 to 792 inclusive of article 4 of the Public Local Laws of the Maryland Code or any supplement addition or amendment thereto Witness the hand and seal of the mortgager

On 8 March 1876, David Little released Robert Moore from the mortgage made on 17 February 1874:
This Release made this eighth day of March in the year eighteen hundred and seventy six by David Little of Baltimore City State of Maryland Whereas by deed of mortgage dated February 17th 1874 and recorded among the Land Records of Baltimore City in Liber G. R. Sec 647 folio 9&c a certain Robert Moore conveyed to said Little the ground and premises therein described for the purpose of securing the payment of the sum of money therein mentioned and where as the said Moore has paid to said Little all the sums of money in said Mortgage mentioned and is entitled to have said ground and premises released from the operation and effect of said mortgage now therefore this Release Witnesseth that in consideration of the premises and of the sum of one dollar the said David Little doth grand and release unto the said Robert Moore his executors administrators and assigns all that piece or parcel of ground situate and lying in the City aforesaid and which is described in the Mortgage above referred to Together with all the buildings and improvements thereon To Have and To Hold the same unto the said Robert Moore in the manner as if said mortgage had never been made Witness my hand and seal

On 22 August 1881, the receivers of the East Baltimore Permanent Land and Building Society released unto Robert Moore mortgage for property on Durham street:
This Release, made this twenty second day of August, in the year One thousand, eight hundred and eighty one, by Thomas R. Clendinen, and Jesse N. Bowen, of Baltimore City, in the State of Maryland, Receivers of the East Baltimore Permanent land and Building Society of Baltimore City, by virtue of and under a decree passed by the Circuit Court of Baltimore City on the 11th day of March 1991 in a cause therein pending of Coburn et als, vs. East Baltimore Permanent Land and building Society of Baltimore City, Whereas, by Indenture bearing date March 7th 1876 the land and premises hereinafter described were granted and conveyed unto the said East Baltimore Permanent Land and Building Society of Baltimore City by Robert Moore of the City and State aforesaid, by way of Mortgage, for the purpose of securing the payment of the sum of Four hundred dollars, in the manner and at the periods expressed in that Indenture, as be reference thereto, recorded among the land records of Baltimore City in liber J.A.P. No. 732 folio 514 &c will more fully appear, And Whereas, the said Robert Moore, has at Sundry times made payments upon the said Mortgage debt until there remains, due thereon, the balance of One hundred and fifty two dollars, and ninety four cents, with interest from the fifth day of July 1881. And Whereas, the said Circuit Court of Baltimore City passed an order on the twentieth day of August 1881 in the said cause therein pending of Coburn et als, vs. East Baltimore Permanent Land and Building Society of Baltimore City, authorizing and directed the said Thomas R. Clendinen and Jesse N. Bowen, as Receivers, aforesaid upon the payment to them by the said Robert Moore of the said balance, or sum of One hundred and fifty two dollars and ninety four cents, with interest from the fifth day of July 1881, to execute unto the said Robert Moore, a good and sufficient release of said mortgage. And Whereas, the said Robert Moore, has paid unto said Thomas R. Clendinen, and Jesse N. Bowen, as receivers aforesaid, the said balance or sum of One hundred and fifty two dollars and ninety four cents, with interest thereon, from the fifth day of July 1881 in full satisfaction of the balance due under said Mortgage, wherefore this release is executed. Now this Release Witnesseth, that for and in consideration of the premises, and of One dollar, the said Thomas R. Clendinen, and Jesse N. Bowen, as receivers aforesaid, and in satisfaction and obedience of the said order passed by the Circuit Court of Baltimore City on the 20th day of August 1881, do grant, and release unto the said Robert Moore, All that piece or parcel of ground situate in Baltimore City and more particularly described as follows: Beginning for the same, on the line, of the West side of Durham street, at the distance of seventy four Northerly from Chew street, and at the corner of a ten foot alley and Durham street, which by deed of lease, dated February 17th 1874 and recorded among the land records of Baltimore City in liber G. A. #647 folio 7 &c, was demised and leased by John Masson, and wife to said Mortgagor, at and under, and subject to the yearly rent of Twenty seven dollars, and which is therein more particularly described as reference thereto will more fully appear. To have and to Hold the same, unto the said Robert Moore his personal representatives or assigns, the same to every intent as if the afores and Mortgage had never been executed. On 23 August 1881 Robert Moore sold property on Durham Street to John Edward McGraw:
This Deed, made this twenty third day of August, in the year, eighteen hundred and eighty one, between Robert Moore of the city of Baltimore, in the State of Maryland of the first part, and John Edward McGraw, of the City and State aforesaid of the second part. Witnesseth, that in consideration of the sum of Four hundred and seventy five dollars, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, the said Robert Moore, doth grant and convey unto the said John Edward McGraw, his personal representatives and assigns, all that piece or parcel of ground situate and lying in the City of Baltimore, aforesaid, and described as follows: Beginning for the same on the line of the West side of Durham street, at the distance of seventy four feet, Northerly from the North West corner of Chew and Durman streets, which place of beginning is at the corner of a ten foot alley and Durham street and running thence Northerly bounding on the West side of Durham street, twelve feet, to the centre of the partition wall between the house on this lot and the house on the lot adjoining on the North, thence Westerly through the centre of said partition wall to the end thereof and continuing the same course, in all fifty feet to another alley ten feet wide, thence Southerly binding on the East side of the said alley with the use and privilege thereof in common twelve feet to the North side of said first named ten foot alley, and thence Easterly binding on said alley fifty feet to the place of beginning. Being the same lot of ground, which by Indenture, bearing date the 17th day of February 1874 and recorded among the land records of Baltimore City in liber G.R. No. 647 folio 7&c, was demised and leased by John Masson, and wife, to the said Robert Moore, subject to the payment of the annual rent of Twenty seven dollars, payable in equal half yearly instalments [sic] on the first day of January and July in each and every year Together, with the buildings thereupon belonging, or in any wise appertaining. To have and to Hold, the said ground and premises, unto the said John Edward McGraw, his personal representatives and assigns, for all the residue of the term of years yet to come and unexpired therein, with the benefit of renewal forever, subject to the payment of the annual rent aforesaid. And the said Robert Moore, covenants that he will warrant specially the property hereby conveyed and that he will execute such further assurances of said land as may be requisite, Witness the hand and seal of the said Grantor.
