“Another Oleomargarine Case.—Joseph H. and Wm. H. Wilhelm, trading as Wilhelm Brothers, waived an examination yesterday before Justice Hobbs, at the central police state, onthe charge of violating the State law prohibiting the sale of oleomargarine, and were released on bail for the action of Criminal Court. The prosecuting witnesses are Thomas W. Moore, 1832 East Fayette street, and Kirk Brown, 1813 North Caroline street. (The house constructed at 726 North Patterson Park Avenue was new. “Over a year ago, we spotlighted the man who built the houses we deconstructed on Eager Street, Frank Novak. Legend has it that Novak built 7,000 rowhouses in East Baltimore, beginning in 1899 with the 700 block of Patterson Park, and moving north and east to help construct Baltimore’s rapidly developing suburbs.” [https://baltimorebrickbybrick.com/2016/03/07/news-...d 21 September 2016.] “In 1899, Frank was a 22 year-old carpenter working under August Hanneman, a German builder. Hanneman and Novak had been building two-story houses along the 700 blocks of Patterson Park and Madeira Streets. Sadly, Hanneman died when the block was half-finished and Novak became thrust into the role of builder…Novak wasted no time, buying the rest of the block from Hanneman’s widow and then buying 35 lots along Madison, Madeira and Collington Streets. He sold his first house in July of 1900 and then moved on to the 800 blocks of North Patterson Park and Collington, eventually acquiring and building upon dozens of blocks to the north and to the east.” [https://baltimorebrickbybrick.com/2015/01/26/so-wh...d 21 September 2016.])
