Thos. Boughan married Mrs. Mary E. Saunders on 9 Jan 1873 in Essex County, Virginia. He was 58; she was 30. Both were widowed; both were born in Essex County and resided there. The parents were Gabriel Boughan and Miss Milly Ward, and George Taylor and Ann Beazley. Thomas was a farmer. Peter Ainslie performed the ceremony. On 1 October 1878, Bettie Boughan purchased goods at the sales of the personal estate of her deceased husband Thomas Boughan. Presumably this is Ann a.k.a. Bettie. She purchased five barrels of corn for $5.00. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 29, pages 756–757.]
