DROWNED.—Mr. Warren J. Davis, a son of Mr. Samuel Davis, who resides near Ozeana, in this county, was drowned last Wednesday, under very disturbing circumstances.
He and Mr. Robert Cauthorn went across the river that morning to Totuskey creek for a load of laths, and while over there got to drinking. Starting to return home young Davis took the oar and was skulling the boat and Cauthorn laid down and fell to sleep. Parties on this side soon after noticed the boat seemed to be adrift and went to it when they discovered Cauthorn alone in the boat, fast asleep, and he could give no information about his companion, except that he was using the oar when he lay down.— Davis’ hat and coat were in the boat. His body was recovered and was buried last Sunday evening.
