Elizabeth Ryland and was mentioned in the 22 April 1769 will of her father John Farguson. She and her husband Joseph Ryland were to receive negro man Jack and a negro girl. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 12, pages 82–83.]

Elizabeth is listed in her husband Joseph Ryland’s 1771 will as his “dear Beloved Wife”. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 12, page 487.]

On 8 January 1773, Elizabeth Ryland is listed as the widow of Joseph Ryland in the division of his slaves. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 12, pages 559–560.]
