John Farguson was mentioned in his father John Farguson’s will of 1715 and received land on the north side of Piscataway Roleing road. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 3, pages 8–9.]

On 13 December 1718, Wm Cox, Tho: Meedes and Elizabeth his wife, John Wood and Thomas Wood of the parish of Southfarnham and County of Essex, planters, sold to Bryant Edmondson of the same. For £35 sterling, the remainder of a tract of 400 acres bordering Majr Wm Aylett, Alexander Younger, part of an original tract of land of ffrancis Brown, Daniel Brown, John ffarguson and James ffarguson, 150 acres total or thereabouts. Signed Wm his C mark Cox, Tho his T mark Meedes, John his + mark Wood, Tho: his T mark Wood, Elizabeth her E mark Meede. Witnesses: Alexander Younger, James Boughan, Wm his + mark Dicks. John Farguson witnessed a deed from James Boughan to Thomas Gatewood on [7] June 1719. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 16, pages 124–126, as abstracted by John Frederick Dorman.]

On 21 March 1720/1, Bryant Edmondson of the parish of Southfarnham and County of Essex sold to John ffarguson of the same. For 1,000 pounds of good, Sound, Merchantable sweet Scented Tobacco in Cask, 31 acres and 80 poles bounded by the land of Daniel Brown. Signed Bryant Edmondson. John Farguson received a bequest in the 20 September 1720 will of his wife stepfather Joseph Baker. He was to receive one gold ring of the value and cost of twenty shillings. The will was proved on 15 November 1720. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 3, pages 220–223.]

On 16 May 1721, John Farguson witnessed a deed from Amy Baker to her son Richard Gatewood. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 16, page 296, as abstracted by John Frederick Dorman.]

On 17 July 1722, an inventory of the estate of James Boughan was returned to court by Richard Tyler, John Fargeson and William Dunn, and signed by James Boughan, executor, and Sarah Boughan, executrix. [Essex County, Virginia, Wills Book 3, pages 308–310.]

On 14 March 1725, John ffarguson was mentioned as a bordering landowner in a deed from Bryant Edmondson to John Croxton. The deed was witnessed by John ffargeson. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 18, page 166.] John ffargeson also witnessed a memorandum stating that the land had been conveyed on 14 March 1725 by turf and twig. On 18 July 1730, Joseph Man of the parish of Southfarnham and County of Essex sold to John Fargesson and John Croxton of the same. For £34, 68 acres formerly belonging to ffrancis Brown deceased. John Farguson received property in the 1731 will of his mother Ann Farguson and was named an executor. He presented the will in court on 16 December 1735. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 8, pages 356–357.]

On 16 December 1735, John Farguson, with Francis Jones and John Croxton was bound £300 for John Farguson’s executorship of the last will and testament of Ann Farguson. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 8, pages 357–358.]

An inventory and appraisal of the estate of Henry Boughan was made on 12 July 1738 by John ffargeson, John Haile junr, and Jos Man. Returned by Sarah her P mark Boughan. Ordered recorded 19 July 1738. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 6, pages 143–144.]

On 16 October 1744, Mary Haile, John Haile, Wm Tyler and John Farguson were bound £1,000 sterling for Mary Haile’s and John Haile’s execution of the will of John Haile. Signed Mary her M mark Haile, John Haile jun, W Tyler, John ffarguson. [Essex County, Virginia, Will Book 7, pages 216–217.]

An inventory and appraisal of the estate of John Haile was made by John ffarguson, James Allen and Wm Dix. Total valuation £141.1.0-1/2 plus some additions. Returned by John Haile and Mary Haile. On 22 March 1748/9, a case was continued in court of John Gatewood, Henry Gatewood, John Farguson and Sarah his wife which Sarah is a Daughter and Legatee of Amy Baker deceased, Thomas Arnold and Frans his wife which said Frans is a Daughter and Legatee of Amy Baker decd, David Scott and Amy his wife which said Amy is one of the Daugthers and Legatees of Amy Baker decd, against Thomas Gatewood and James Gatewood Executors of Amy Baker decd. It was ordered that Thos Edmondson Thomas Wiatt James Jones William Roane Gentlemen or any three of them settle the defendants accounts of administration of the estate of Amy Baker deceased and make report to next court. On 21 March 1749, John Farguson served on a jury in a land trail case between Thomas Dix and James and Ann Campbell. [Essex County, Virginia, Land Trails 1741–1760, pages 111–113.]

On 21 April 1752, John ffarguson witnessed a deed from Mary Evitt to Henry Purkins, both of Essex County. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 26, pages 31–34.]

On 4 July 1753, John Farguson, aged 68, deposed that he was with James Boughan at the time of his death. That James Boughan had called for his daughter and son-in-law Susannah and Thomas Croxton before his death to make sure that they were satisfied with the slave Charles, and that the £10 paid in exchange for the slave Winney was to go to the land purchased of Christian Baker. On 16 June 1755, a John Farguson was mentioned as a landowner bordering land of Thomas Croxton and Susanna his wife. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 27, pages 115–119.]

On 4 December 1755, a John Farguson cast votes for Colonel William Daingerfield and Colonel Francis Smith for burgesses of Essex County. [Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 27, pages 248–252.]

On 21 March 1766, John Farguson provided a deposition in the case Wright vs. Edmondson. The deposition states that he was of full age. [Essex County, Virginia, Box Chancery No. 4, item 4-H-10.]

To daughter Katharine Haile wife of Benjamin Haile negro girl Winney and to their children. To daughter Amy Garnett 20 shillings. To Sarah Griffing one feather bed and furniture. In Virginia Land Patent Book No. 6, Robt. Whitchaire, John Bowler and Charles Edmonds are awarded 3,000 acres in New Kent County, Virginia, on 25 April 1667 for the transportation to Virginia of 60 people including a James Fargeson and a Jno. Fargeson.
